  • Spacious rural site on the banks of the Loire river
  • A five-minute drive from canoe trips and amenities in Vorey
  • Restaurant and bar open all day for meals, snacks and drinks
Folk seeking a retreat far from the madding crowd, feast your eyes on this place. Rural Camping Domaine Le Pra de Mars is a five-hectare site right on the banks of the Loire river with a backdrop of natural colours from the tree-covered hills all around – just the place for a bit of decompression time. You’re a little way off the tourist trail here, so it’s likely you’ll be spending your days roaming around in the fresh air rather than ticking off heaps of attractions. Hiking, mountain biking, canoeing, fishing, horse riding and climbing are great ways to get out and about locally; come the evening, dark skies mean this is a top spot for stargazing – hang about on site to gaze up with drink in hand or head off on a tour for expert advice. There’s always the very tempting option of loafing about on site for a little while too… it’d be mighty easy to while away many hours around here snoozing in a shaded spot, taking dips in the swimming pool and playing games of tennis, volleyball, table tennis and miniature golf. If you really need a bit of exercise (croissant-related guilt, perchance?), head off to the fitness area for a workout on the outdoor gym kit. Eats and drinks are on hand all day too – the restaurant (in a lovely old farmhouse) opens for breakfast and then serves up meals, crêpes, drinks, ice creams and takeaway pizzas whenever you fancy. Sociable themed dinners are organised regularly in high season, and there’s also the option of cooking up your own dinners with food from the site’s shop.

Liked Nice pitch near the river.
Could get access to the river in a few places.
Able to choose our pitch.
Facilities clean (own toilet paper needed)
Quiet while we were there.
Can order bread and croissants for the morning.
Didn't try the restaurant or pool so can't comment on those.
Well placed for visiting the local area.

Disliked When we arrived, owner was making someone an ice-cream and completely ignored us. Check in was in the bar/restaurant so it wasn't clear if we were in the right place. A simple, 'I'll be with you in a moment' would have been nice! Shame because he was quite chatty later but first impressions matter.

Power optional grass site (riverside)
