  • Family site two miles from Barmouth
  • Sea views on site; short walk from Talybont station
  • Access to facilities of sister site including swimming pool
Settle in for sea views from several corners of the site at Tyddyn Goronwy Camping Park in Gwynedd, in the seaside village of Tal-y-Bont and a couple of miles from the beaut beach at Barmouth. Pods and pitches here are flanked by sea and mountain views, and are within easy walking distance of the village, which has a takeaway and a riverside pub. Even closer is Talybont station, a couple of minutes' walk away and handy for outings to Barmouth beach or north to the peaks of Snowdonia. Showers, toilets and a washing-up area are available on site. The pitch price at Tyddyn Goronwy also includes a free leisure pass to its sister park Sunnysands Caravan Park, a short drive away, to use its heated indoor pool, café, fish and chip shop and other facilities – and you might want to stick around for the spectacular beachfront sunsets too.

What customers say

Great spot near the beach, shops & train. Staff are ace! Pods & site clean, but loos/showers can be a bit rough. Sister site access is a bonus, esp. for kids.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked Great views over the sea
Flat pitches, although the far field was a little lumpy in places
Good location - not far from Barmouth and walking distance to the sea.
Showers good and toilets clean, although a few shelves to put things on would have helped.

Disliked Nobody in reception when we arrived and we couldn't get in because of a barrier. Had to ring a number 4 times and kept getting put through to voicemail before someone answered. Was given the code to get through and pitch number. Luckily I had something to write the code on or I would have easily forgotton it.
We were never given the code for the toilet block. I had to get it from another camper after I couldn't get in. I felt the welcome could have been much better - the barrier code, pitch number and toilet code could have all been emailed or texted to us. It's not a great welcome when you can't get in after a long journey.
There were 2 hairdryers in the toilets, but when I went to use them my 20p just fell out - both did the same. Neither of them were working. There were sockets in the bathroom - this would have been handy to know as I'd have brought my own hairdryer. No idea if they were working though.

Liked Quiet site and facilities were clean.
Short walk to the sands complex for shop, chippy,American diner and arcade, and a bit further for the beach.Ysgethin pub is a short walk away
Train station 2 mins walk aswell
Lovely Sunset and sky was beautiful
Can use sunnysands pool etc although got told we needed passes at Sunnysands..

Disliked Asked why we hadn’t vacated our pitch by 10am the next day despite booking another night same day we arrived.. apparently pitch up didnt let them know we had booked another night!
Also bit of a shame our view was kind of spoiled by a huge heap of soil with loads of broken decking and a couple of scrap caravans

Liked The location of this site is fantastic, stunning views and we’re lucky enough to wake up to sunrise over the moutains and the sunset over the sea for views everyday. Beach within walking distance and shop, chip shop nearby too

Disliked Toilet facilities are tired and could really do with upgrading, no disabled facilities or family facilities (I have a disabled child and washing him in the normal showers doesn’t work).

Some from site came onto our pitch while we were out and put a splitter on our electrics, added a hook up and threw it over the wall to a group of people camping on the non electric pitches.

Noise levels from those over the wall was unreal as were screaming and shouting till 2.30-3am.

Site office number was a waste of time, they never answered and when they did they were just really rude.

One sink for washing up for the whole site and majority of people there were in tents.

Liked The sea view, location and pitch.

Disliked Rude and unhelpful staff, particularly the general manager.
There wasn’t any disabled facilities so was unable to shower my child for the whole stay.

Liked Love coming here, second year on the run.
Shower/toilet facilities 9/10
Pitch great, views amazing, great campsite lots around to do.

Beach 5 mins down the road, Barmouth bay and town 10 mins away lots to do!

We will be back next year

Disliked Bit of a nightmare on arrival, requested pitches together as we booked 3 and they was dotted all over the campsite. Man on campsite was quite rude, however lady in reception called me back after a bit of back and fourth and had sorted it for me, so much appreciated

Thanks for a great stay again

Liked The location, views, large flat pitches.

Disliked Had to go and search for reception on a different site as there was only a phone number to ring but kept getting cut off as very bad signal.
The toilets and showers were not cleaned during our 4 night stay.

Liked Great spot, fantastic value for money and really helpful staff. Even after arriving late they were accomodating.

Disliked Only issue was with the female changing rooms. Our tent was pitched besides this and it has a coded lock. Issue being, this door gets left open OFTEN. The door will blow and slam in the wind relentlessly through the night. Closing it, just gets left open again 90% of the time by the next person who uses the bathroom.

This could be improved with a simple latch or something im sure.

Local attractions

To Barmouth first, of course: its position on the north Wales coast surrounded by Snowdonia National Park makes it a popular and pretty place to visit – and the huge beach is pretty special to see as well. Away from the coast (eventually), a wide range of activities is available around Tyddyn Goronwy Camping Park, from cycling to hiking to pony trekking – or strap on lots of energy and tackle the Snowdon and Cadair Idris mountain ranges a short distance away. A chuffing good way to see the spectacular scenery of north Wales is on one of its small steam trains: the nearest to Tyddyn Goronwy are the Fairbourne Steam Railway just outside Barmouth and the Ffestiniog Railway about 10 miles away.
