  • Family-friendly site with fishing lakes 15 minutes’ drive from Newquay
  • Mawgan Porth five minutes’ drive; Springfield Fun Park 15 minutes
  • Children’s playground; resident farm animals; farm shop; launderette
Be sure to pack your trusted rod for your stay at Penvose Farm Holidays, a working farm on the edge of Cornwall Airport Newquay, with four coarse fishing lakes where guests can go fishing for half the price charged to outside visitors. Indeed, the best thing (or one of the best things, at least) about staying here is that your loved ones will also have plenty to keep them occupied while you sit by the water, waiting for carp and perch to bite, your canine friend snoozing gently by your side. (There is a small fee for dogs, but they are welcome here, provided they are well-behaved around the livestock.) A children’s playground has a wooden climbing structure, swings and slides; the large grassy meadow is also a top spot for riding a bike or kicking a ball around. Then, of course, there’s the spectacular beaches of North Cornwall. Within a short drive are Mawgan Porth (five minutes), a sheltered sandy triangle at the mouth of the River Menalhyl; and neighbouring Porth Beach and Newquay (both 15 minutes, separated by the rocky Glendorgal Headland). Rockpools line the former, set within a deep inlet, while Newquay is renowned for its surfing waves. The South West Coast Path runs along all of these beaches, and a clifftop hike might lead to vantage points with stunning sea views – or to traditional Cornish pubs where you can stop for refreshments. A small farm shop at the site sells bits and bobs for the barbecue; there are also several supermarkets within a 10-minute drive, not to mention heaps of restaurants in both Newquay and Padstow (25 minutes). Other amenities on site include hot showers, a launderette and a communal fridge freezer.

What customers say

Spacious pitches, clean facilities, and helpful staff get a thumbs up. Great base for Cornwall, with a well-stocked farm shop. Some found showers tricky & Wi-Fi pricey, and planes can be a bit noisy. Still, loads want to come back!

Liked Great views of the airfield and nice and close to Newquay. Lovely little farm shop ( not too expensive either). Food van on site that changes its menu each night - Friday, jacket potatoes, Saturday, pizza, Sunday, fish and chips etc.
Basic toilet block but staff came in to fill up toilet rolls daily. Could do with a clean on the ceiling- lots of large spiders.
Showers lovely and hot just need a clean during busy times.
Cute little park for kids.

Disliked Grass was a bit long being the end of the summer so wet feet on the morning walks.
Google maps tried to take us further down the road.

Liked Nice place and the owners are lovely, there was a lot of dog mess where we needed to pitch up but the owners sorted it straight away, close to beaches and watching the planes going over is brilliant.

Disliked The cleanliness of the showers and toilets really let this place down, the showers aren’t great anyway but overflowing bins with sanitary wear left on show as they were so full, toilets were pretty disgusting tbh and the shower floors were filthy, a used plaster was still in the shower cubicle 48 hours later and we didn’t once see anyone cleaning these areas, yes it’s a camp site but didn’t expect to not want to use the facilities

Liked Large field space for the kids to play, mini shop, fire pits to hire, clean toilets.

Disliked No one patrolling at night so loud music from nearby caravan until 1.50am. Play area needs serious update and seesaw was dangerous (son trapped his toes underneath). Showers spray in all directions other than on your body, had to keep pressing the button every 15 seconds.

Explore the history of this region at Castle an Dinas, St Columb Major (15 minutes), where three ditch and rampart concentric rings are all that’s left of a second-century BC hillfort, or at Roche Rock (20 minutes), the ruins of a 15th-century chapel perched on a craggy outcrop.
