What customers say
Great views of Ullswater, friendly owner Sophie. Spacious pitches with a 'wild camping' feel. Good base for exploring, short walk to a pub. Basic loos. Some mud/noise, but good value, back-to-basics camping overall.

Unpowered grass tent site
Liked Lovely campsite! Only amenities were toilets but the views were amazing! Nice to be out in the 'wild' and just very chill! Can hire campfires too! Pub just at the bottom of the hill too!
Disliked Could do with some running drinking water. But I know this would be difficult to source. Does say when booking that there's no drinking water.

Unpowered grass tent site
Liked The only good thing about this site is the view.
Disliked The only facility available was a toilet which I expected because it is clear on the website that there are no other facilities and no drinking water. However the toilet was not maintained and was therefore akin to what you'd find at the end of a night at a festival. Utterly disgusting and no toilet paper.
When that is the only facility you are providing then it should be serviceable.
Aside from that, the site was noisy with groups shouting and swearing all through the night, being aggressive and violent to each other. It was a horrendous experience.

Liked We came here for the night. The views was absolutely amazing. There was a lady that came round and dropped fire pits and logs off for £16.50. She was lovely and welcoming overall the experience was fantastic. WiFi wasn’t great but who needs it when you’re out with them views. I also took my puppy he has the best time.

Liked Great site, clean, toilets well looked after and attended to well by owner. Immediate welcome and also purchased the fire pit which was great. Amazing views. Made extra special by the projector movie put on for the children the night that we stayed by the owner.

Lovely site with incredible views, lovely staff and basic facilities
Unpowered grass tent site
Liked Very friendly staff, incredible views, not too busy/overcrowded, one of few campsites who allow campfires + were able to buy more fire wood when we ran out
Disliked Entrance to site is quite steep and one car struggled to get in and out, still manageable though.

really enjoyed stay excellent location let down by late noise
Unpowered grass tent site
Liked The view was fantastic
Sophie the girl who greeted us was brilliant
Being able to arrive and leave at our leisure
Very close the lake so perfect for a short drive
Pub nearby
Disliked Would be so much better if drinking water was available.
We were kept up both nights by drunken groups until 2am.
Not the end of the world, I suppose this is the trade for relaxed arrival and departure etc …
We were a group and mixed adults and children, and whilst we’re not expecting to be quiet by 10pm.
I think midnight is a reasonable ask.
