  • Family-focused holiday park in a scenic countryside setting
  • On-site fishing lake and loads of activities to entertain the kids
  • Close to plenty to do on the East and North Yorkshire coasts
Skip to see – and stay at – this holiday park on the sandy East Yorkshire coast: it's likely you’ll love it. Skipsea Sands Holiday Park is in a scenic countryside and village setting near Driffield, but is only a couple of miles from the stretch of Yorkshire coastline between Flamborough Head to Spurn Point – with Bridlington in between – and within easy driving distance of several sandy beaches. It has its own fishing lake and lots of activities and entertainment to float any individual boat. Guests can be occupied day and night should they so wish: kids can work off energy at the adventure playground, chase a shuttlecock/football or rollerblade around the massive sports hall, before cooling off at the waterjets of the indoor pool, or going along to one of the many organised activities for all ages such as dance, football, water games and a club for the under-fives. There’s a small charge to use the sports hall and for a couple of other activities like ten-pin bowling and the intriguingly named aqua jets, but all other activities are free. Elsewhere on site, bigger guests have access to the well-equipped park gym, while all ages can pile into the Pavilion family clubhouse for drinks and snacks; there are two other bars on site, as well as The Sands diner with restaurant and takeaway. Evenings are properly covered with a range of glitzy entertainment from live music to family shows. Prefer to breeze gently through your hols rather than get involved in too much activity? A Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room are on site to bubble placidly at too, all included in your pitch fee.

Liked: Large pitch
Dog walking area
Large play space
Staff in entertainment area

Disliked: Toilets/showers unacceptable- glad we had the van and not tent.
Ladies worse than men's, obviously been like it a while. Toilets don't flush. Showers stone cold.

Liked: Spacious pitches with plenty of space for children to play. Nice pond and dog walk area

Disliked: Requests weren’t folllowed up when agreed to allow our family to be together due to young children. The pitch needed care; spikey weeds and torn up grass. The toilet block for ladies was out of action for my whole 4 night stay. The other toilet block only had 2/4 toilets working (one day only 1 was available)
The chemical waste disposal was blocked and full on our final day.
Although near the coast this was inaccessible from the holiday park. We had to walk 2 miles on country roads without paths to be able to enjoy it.

Liked: Big camping area. Park for kids with plenty of space for running around.
Arcades very basic but kids liked it.

Disliked: Toilets not very clean. It's not down to not getting cleaned it's down to the people visiting.
No space for swimming even when trying to book 4 weeks before visit.

Liked: Fantastic site, staff friendly and so much to do, swimming arcades, the ice cream and choice was amazing and the choice of arcades. All in all a fabulous few days and a great start to our camping adventures xx

Disliked: Only down side was it would have been nice to walk onto the beach but because of the corrosion you couldn’t! Not the sites fault at all. Wifi wasn’t amazing on the tent part useable but don’t go camping for that so all good really

Liked: The campsite was quiet and pleasant, the food in the boathouse was nice and there was plenty of pool tables. The eating and drinking areas were clean and non sticky. The play area outside in the campsite was clean and spacious for football and ball games.

Disliked: The toilets and disabled toilet was dirty, often out of toilet paper, dirty sinks and floors I wouldn't want my dog walking on, let alone disabled people. The toilets inside the entertainment block near the pool, were disgusting. The sanitary bins were over flowing, the toilets didn't flush properly. Very disappointed. The Nisa shop looked like it was being ran by ex convicts, I didn't trust them, very unprofessional in appearance and mannerisms. It was very dark in places walking to the tent.

Liked: very close to the sea, park was litter free. Well stocked shop. Lovely village pub just down the road that made us welcome when the on site team didnt.

Disliked: camping area was dirty, loud music, toilets were shocking, showers were cold and so was the water. there was 2 toilet blocks for the whole of the camping area but 1 was closed off for building work and the camping area was full. Had a site power cut from 9:22am until 16:54pm and no discount given even though receptionist told us there will be 20% off all food the bar staff hadnt heard of this so wouldnt authorise it. I have to say this is the worst Park Dean ive been too and will not be returning to the camp but to be fair it looks like the coastal erosion will get rid of the camp nayurally. Nothing to do for the older children. no signal on site for EE customers SOS only.

Liked: This is a great site for kids, always something to do. The Touring pitches are nice and big. Park is decent although there’s only one swing which is odd given the size of the place, there’s a good walk for dogs and plenty of places to get food and staff in the shops and bars are all polite and helpful, the site is nice and quiet after 11.30pm.

Disliked: The cleanliness of the toilet block was unacceptable, sanitary bins overflowing, blocked toilets. People (including staff in golf buggies) going very fast around the site on electric scooters, bicycles and electric buggies. There was lots of dog poo along the dog walk area, and in the drain next to it, I counted over 15 footballs next to lots of other rubbish in the water, despite advertising the fact it’s home to water voles, which is quite sad!
Staff who are supposed to clean obviously do not. The on-site shop is absolutely extortionate, for example; a pack of digestives are £3. The ID check before arriving is a complete waste of time, considering only one member of the party has to provide ID, it’s totally pointless. Although we will return as my daughter loved it here, but even she said the toilets were an absolute mess! WIFI is absolutely rubbish, even if you pay for it

Local attractions

The East and North Yorkshire coast is most visitors’ first stop, from the gannets gabbing at Flamborough Head and Bempton Cliffs to the seaside shenanigans and surfing of Scarborough. If it’s raining, take the kids to Terror Tower: its three floors’ worthy of grisly special effects should silence even the most horrifying sprog. Flit to fab Filey for five miles of beach, its funfair and the start of the Cleveland Way, and nearby Bridlington for the Bird of Prey and Animal Park and Bondville Model Village. Further along the coast, Goths and others love lovely Whitby; have fish and chips at the Magpie café after an afternoon seeing Whitby Abbey and the replica of HMS Endeavour. Inland yields loads to do too, with the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National Park both within driving distance; as it’s Yorkshire, you’ll find stately pads, historic houses and museums of all bents easily accessible too. A good option for a city day trip is lovely York, about an hour’s drive away.
