Stargazer Hattie bell tent (pet friendly)
Liked: Tent furnished beautifully. Bed very comfortable. Beautiful part of countryside. Dog friendly. Nice facilities. Easy as towels and cutlery etc provided.
Disliked: Unfortunately ended up waiting 45mins to "check in" as email from pitch up gave wrong information and advised we call number where there was no answer so ended up waiting a long time before hearing from host. Was a disappointing and worrying start to our weekend but host apologetic for glitch which meant we never received the welcome email direct from them with correct instructions and gave bottle of prosecco which was a nice touch. While shower hut was nicely done, shower curtain doesn't allow you much space and sticks to you when using the shower.

From the manager: Thank you for your 8-star review and I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at Godwick. Apologies again for the miscommunication regarding check in...I'm trying to amend this, so it doesn't happen again. Also, we will look into the shower curtains and see if we can improve that situation. Hope you come back to stay with us in the future. Thank you for staying with us with your beautiful dog at Dogwick! I mean Godwick!

Stargazer Olive bell tent
Liked: The yurt was very comfortable, with a large bed. However the futons for the children weren't particularly comfy for them. The two yurts are situation in a very quiet area, there is a barn for weddings up the road but the music didn't disturb our stay. The toilets and showers are communal, which wasn't an issue for us as we were the only ones there. I would recommend staying in Hattie over Olive, due to the path layout - Hattie is tucked away in the corner but Olive will have foot traffic of only a few meters away from the yurt from the other visitors using the communal toilet or kitchen. Also it would be good for parking to be provided next to Hattie to save walking across the field and right past Olive yurt with all of your things.
Disliked: On site are three Shepherd huts and if these do not have toilets, then a gap should be put in the fence near the toilets to stop all the guests walking past Olive to get to the toilets. I do think the fence gaps and paths should be laid out differently for the guests of Olive, i wouldn't want all other guests constantly walking 2 meters near my Yurt. We only saw the owner once on the day we arrived, which wasn't an issue but it would have been nice to be given information on how to purchase more wood on site as we had to go to B&Q instead. Also the wood provided in our purchased basket on arrival was not good quality and very dry, so it smoked a lot and produced a lot of embers. No additional stove wood was provided for the indoor stove, only enough for our first night and again we had to go buy more from B&Q. I also don't feel that the BBQ and firepit should be charged as an added extra and should be included in the price.

From the manager: Thank you Lianne, for your comments and for choosing to stay at Godwick in one of our stargazer bell tents and your 8 star review.
Just a couple of points: The shepherd's huts are ensuite, so do not need to use the loos and the shower facilities, which are just for the Bell Tent users. So the only foot traffic past the Olive is the guests staying in the Hattie, and as we only have two tents it is quite minimal.
Secondly, we do send all guests an email with a Touchstay guide, that can be accessed online and explains what is available to buy onsite, when their balance is paid. Unfortunately, the system didn't trigger this email in this instance, because we agreed a different arrangement on payment of the balance. Something for us to be aware of in future, so apologies we didn't spot this before.
In terms of the layout and parking, we thought it was a better idea for the parking to be kept outside the Bell Tent area, and for guests to walk the short way to their tents and provided wheelbarrows for transporting goods. You found the perfect workaround by parking opposite your tent on the track and unloading your gear and then parking your car out of the way.
Overall, I hope you enjoyed your stay and thank you for staying with us.
Warm regards,
James

Stargazer Hattie bell tent (pet friendly)
Liked: Lovely campsite
Tent was huge, bed super comfy and kids likes theirs too
Lots of lovely thoughtful things like full length mirror and lots of nice rugs in the floor
Amazing stars and no traffic noise so felt really properly off grid
Overall Fabulous camping in style, great for families and couples, lots of wildlife upclose, going to slee seeing the Milky Way accompanied by ones
Disliked: We brought a lot of our usual camping kitchen stuff and although the kitchen there is well stocked it could do with maybe a more exact list on the website so you can see what extras you might like to bring
We thought it was lovely there were champagne glasses but tricky to open food packets without knife or scissors

Stargazer Hattie bell tent (pet friendly)
Liked: Bell tent was an excellent size and very comfortable. Nice to have somewhere to hang clothes, a sitting area and a wheelbarrow. Bed was warm and camp kitchen was a great addition.
Disliked: Only enough hot water for 1 person to shower. We tried using both showers after and both were icy cold.
Potting shed toilet was infested with spiders, some of which we believe were false widows. Also a lack of instructions for the toilet itself (how to move the flap). Transparent canopy could have been cleaned prior to our arrival so we could actually see the sky.

From the manager: Thanks for your feedback. We have changed the potting shed composting loos to loos that are flushable. We hope this gives an all round better experience. Can't guarantee that those pesky spiders don't infiltrate these though as they are outside and close to nature still. The showers are normally hot for both people, so I am surprised you had this problem and as it hasn't been reported to us before! The stargazers have a perspex canopy but this is very hard to clean, I'll speak to me window cleaner and see what he says. Thank you for your feedback.
