Fakenham Racecourse Camping and Caravan Site is well worth galloping to for stays on well-maintained grass lawns. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, making it a top spot for unwinding among the greenery of secluded gardens. The location is a real draw, since it’s a 20-minute walk from Fakenham’s town centre, and it only takes about 10 minutes to wander down to the River Wensum to access excellent walking and cycling routes through the countryside. It’s a 25-minute drive to Blakeney in the stunning Norfolk Coast National Landscape, home to vast sandy beaches and the jumping-off point for seal-watching boat trips. Not too fussed about exploring? Kick back on site while the kids and dogs nosey about in the grass areas. If you’re here for the racing, meets are organised from October to June; guests are more than welcome to stay overnight while they’re on (but they will need to move from their pitch to a designated area by 9am on the day of the event). Those who don’t have any enthusiasm for equestrianism can amuse themselves at the on-site Gallow Sports Centre’s nine-hole golf course, tennis court and squash court instead. There’s also a bar on site. Guests who stay for at least a couple of nights during a race meeting will get complimentary tickets into the races. Bikes can be securely kept at the site.

  • The campground/park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dog Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).
  • No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.
  • Reception is unmanned after 5 p.m.. Please inform the campground while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time so that the team can provide information about your unit/site.
  • At least one of the party members must be aged 20 or over.
  • A cable measuring at least 20 metres is needed for the electric hook-ups.
  • On the day of a race meeting all guests are required to move by 9am, if you wish to stay for the races you can move to the designated parking area. Stays of 2 nights or more will receive complimentary tickets into the races.

Great site, spacious pitches, super-clean loos. Staff are ace, it’s peaceful, and Fakenham's a short stroll. Expect some bird noise and occasional Wi-Fi glitches, but it’s top-notch for cleanliness, space, and location.

Liked Location was good, facilities are clean and tidy.

Disliked I had a call to chase up where I was just before their closing time of 5 pm, yet on my confirmation email, it said between 2-6 check-in time.
Luckily I arrived at 5.15..but it's something to be mindful of when booking!
I couldn't get connected to the WiFi.

Liked There was nothing to review at this site, since there was nothing there. Just a field next to a race course. No staff, no pitch number, one water point in the middle of the field and a hand full of electric posts to service numerous pitches. No reason to ever come back.

Liked Lovely clean and well ran campsite - well lit and near to the town (quick walk through a cut through) showers really hot. Friendly campers & very quiet! Which we like. Near to the coast, we used as a base as we were at Sandringham for a concert, easy to drive for coastal walks. Fakenham has some lovely pubs and restaurants/takeaways if you’d rather not cook.

Disliked We pitched at the top of the field and the ground was very hard had to manoeuvre the tent around quite a lot to get the pegs in but it worked out eventually!

Surrounded by the lush woodland of Sandringham Country Park, Sandringham Estate (half an hour’s drive) is the Royal Family’s beloved Christmas retreat. The elegant rooms of the Jacobean mansion are decorated with splendid tapestries and paintings, while the gardens include a topiary area and ornamental lakes. The tall spire of Norwich Cathedral (55 minutes) dominates the city and is home to nesting peregrine falcons.
