  • A 10-minute drive from Alton Towers and Uttoxeter Racecourse
  • Large family-friendly bar and restaurant with events and takeaways
  • Spacious beer garden with play area and large climbing frame
Up for theme park thrills? New Broom Camping and Caravan Site is 10 minutes' drive away from Alton Towers – and has a comfy number of amenities to have you sorted on site too. Set in two peaceful acres with flat grass pitches, the park has a traditional pub (which is both large and family-friendly) with a family restaurant. There's also a big beer garden with a play area. And it's all in the small Staffordshire village of Checkley, a short drive away from Uttoxeter Racecourse and The Potteries as well as Alton Towers. The pub serves decently priced drinks and meals including carvery, cooked breakfasts and pizza (pizza is available for takeaway too). It's got a pool table for evenings of friendly competition, and hosts regular events such as rock nights, tribute nights and darts nights. New Broom also has a toilet/shower facility that guests can use free of charge, 24 hours a day.

What customers say

A friendly campsite with a great pub serving tasty grub. Staff are super helpful and accommodating. Toilets and showers are clean, if a bit basic. Easy access to Alton Towers. Road noise sometimes mentioned, earplugs supplied.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked you can pay for one night during summer months

Disliked It’s not really a campsite (at least for tents). It’s a pub beer garden turned into a camp site. Bins smelt right next to where you wash up. Water filling is a hose on the wall. There’s not enough room between the tents on there and you’re very close to each other. It’s priced the same as purpose built campsites with space and better and cleaner facilities. There is a pub next to the tents however prices are extremely high for a meal. I don’t mind camping and making compromises as long as it’s reflected in the price per night. I feel it’s overpriced especially given you’re right next to a busy main road and the reasons given above. If you prefer not to face outwards to other campers you’re facing a bush with a noisy road the other side.
