  • Family-run dairy farm and fishery with views over The Roaches
  • Short drive to Alton Towers, Peak Wildlife Park and Tittesworth Water
  • On-site farm shop and farm animals; 10 minutes' walk to two local pubs
Set on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park, Brooklyn Grange Farm is a back-to-basics site on a family-run dairy farm surrounded by gorgeous Staffordshire countryside. The scenery here is varied indeed, with views over quiet fishing pools, grassy meadows and the spectacular rocky ridge known as The Roaches. You'll also be well placed to sample local produce at this small-scale site – you can head to the farm shop, which sells eggs, bacon, sausages, cheese, barbecue meats and other goodies, or grab a local ice cream, milkshake or fresh milk from the on-site Milk Barn. You're welcome to light up a barbecue, as long as it's kept off the grass. If you don't have your own, there are firepits for hire (a cash deposit is required) from the farm shop and kindling and logs for sale. There's also a village pub and carvery around 10 minutes' walk away on the edge of Thorncliffe (with another around 10 minutes' walk away in Blackshaw Moor). For more flavours, try Leek (five minutes' drive), a local market town with a good range of restaurants, cafés and food shops. After a trip to town it's back to the countryside, where you might like to try a spot of catch-and-return fishing at one of the site's well-stocked ponds (for an extra fee; you must have an Environment Agency licence; no fishing available during the spawning season, which is generally in late May and/or early June). You could also take yourself off for a hike in the national park (a mile away), where there are many miles of well-mapped trails to explore. As for facilities, Brooklyn Grange Farm has functional and well-maintained toilets for guests. There is one shower available here (bookable for an extra charge at the farm shop), or you can take the option of travelling five minutes down the road to Brough Park Leisure Centre.

Liked: farm owners were amazing and the food they sell is incredible. Great service and a really good view of the roaches.

Disliked: Literally nothing, just wish we put the tent a little closer to the toilets 😂

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: Loved the surroundings/ beautiful views. People who run it are lovely and helpful. Very rural and farm set up -worked well.

Loved the farm shop, had many milkshakes and also took some away!

We dont drink alcohol but they had converted a horse box into a bar which seemed popular with others.

Other good facilities like toilet block which was clean and topped up with loo roll / soap (didn’t have to ask).

Didn’t use showers so cannot comment on the cleanliness etc there but didn’t hear others complaining!

Massive field so even if busy there is a lot of space for everyone. Also when we were , everyone was respectful, not too loud etc :)

Seemed there were some keen hikers on site, so must be some good walks around , obviously Peak District not too far away.

Would stay again as overall brilliant place

Disliked: Busier than I would have liked as our dog is dog reactive so if we take him with us , we obviously have to take him to a dog friendly site but then we stress if it is busy because we try to avoid him getting stressed ! Not the sites / any other sites problem!:p

Liked: The staff are amazing, shop fantastic, lovely site.
Husband and brother enjoy fishing even if it's a hard lake to fish.

Disliked: Toilets most of the time we only had one Toilet. There only 2 to start with and in morning in a nightmare as people waiting to use the toilet as well as have a wash.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: Really friends staff with a great little farm shop selling everything you might need it have forgotten. Great location being close to lots of walks and the town of Leek. Toilet blocks were good and clean (soap and toilet role provided).

Disliked: Shower facilities are very basic (very low pressure) and only accessible during farm shop opening hours - but it is a completely private room/ lockable which is good. £2.50 per shower.

Unpowered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked: The shop isn’t basic in my opinion, it has a lot of choice and great camping bits that you may of forgot! Lots of farm animals, couple of pubs in walking distance, easy check in, free to camp where you want, late checkout, hardly any rules which is so relaxed, nice and quiet site, lovely lake and Mountain View’s. Lovely ice cream sold in the shop, along with fresh meat, flavoured milk, eggs and drinks/sweets.

Cheap in my opinion.

Disliked: Only 1 shower available, which you had to book. £2.50 which I don’t think is too bad but the pressure of the shower was extremely poor. Shower attached to owners home so time limited also (understandable)

Needs more than 2 toilets, fishermen/women shared toilets with campers, definitely needs 5 minimum - there is a shed next door to toilets so could use that, or have portaloos (interested to know if plans for more toilets to be installed
In the near future)

Pitches aren’t the flattest but not bad atall.

With these 2 points improved, I definitely think the sites one of the best in the area, especially for the money.
