  • Family-run dog-friendly farm site in Cropredy village
  • A 20-minute drive to British Motor Museum; 40 mins to Blenheim Palace
  • Wood-fired pizzas on busy weekends; a short walk to pubs and cafés
Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of navigating little country lanes? Set off to Oxfordshire and The Old Dairy Farm Caravan and Camping: getting here involves a mere 10-minute detour from the M40 at Banbury. That location makes this a most handy spot for motorway stopovers, but there’s plenty around to please those who choose to stay longer too. However long you stay at this family-run farm, you’ll not want to miss out on meeting the pygmy goats and free-range chickens and peering into the aviary; once the kids have done that, send them off for a proper run about on the large recreational field to tire them out before bedtime. Handy too are the smart and well-maintained facilities, including a toilet block, showers, a washing-up area, water supply and Elsan point. The wood-fired pizza oven gets going on busy weekends (and it’s also available for private hire if you’re having a gathering). Don’t worry if there’s no pizza action while you’re here: it’ll take just a few minutes to walk to Cropredy’s pubs, cafés and shop (or its play park). It’s also possible to walk to the Oxford Canal and River Cherwell for waterside wanders, and a short drive will get you out into the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for more walks, plus golf courses, fishing lakes and National Trust estates. In the main this is a peaceful site, but it's worth noting that a rail line passes fairly close by so you may hear a bit of noise from the pitches (or even spot trains – much to the delight of young rail enthusiasts).

What customers say

A great spot for families! Spacious, clean pitches and friendly staff are highlights. Kids love the animals and playground. Nice relaxed vibe and location, though some reckon facilities need a spruce-up. Train noise is a small thing for light sleepers. Good value, recommended.

6-amp powered grass site

Liked Our tent pitch was large, with an open field opposite. Not crowed and quite secluded for our group. (3 families). Close to our toilet block which was almost private.

Kids enjoyed the park, animals and bouncy castles.

Site offered food and drink options which were well received on arrival night.

Pleasant site, which was clean, safe and fun for all the family.

Would recommend and return.

Disliked Train line on the first night took some getting used to. Eventually didn’t even notice the noise.

Unpowered grass site

Liked Fantastic weekend spent at the Old Dairy Farm with my sister and her little family. First time we've visited and definitely won't be the last. Such a relaxed welcoming atmosphere. Loved that the children had things to do throughout our stay from feeding the goats, Chelsea the parrot, play area and bouncy castles. Food was good value for money and tasted great too. Cannot fault this place!

10-amp powered grass site

Liked Beautiful site, with bouncy castle for the kids, nice play area and very tidy site

Disliked Toilets were very dirty, and on the morning of our departure one of the staff went in with very foul language, slamming and banging.
We were also pitched along the side but no mention of the railway that runs just behind the fence with freight trains running all hours

6-amp powered grass site

Liked Really liked the pitch size and the space it provided, along with the gravel for the car. Nice touch. Been here a year (or so) ago and noticed the covered seating that is there now is a welcome new addition. Loved everything about the site, ni e and friendly welcoming staff.

Disliked Not really a dislike but would be nice if there was more food options, especially in school hols, like waffle vans or pizza/burger vans.

10-amp powered grass site

Liked Lovely friendly site. Absolutely fantastic for kids!! Great prices friendly service from everyone!!!

Disliked Loos and showers could do with a tidy up……. Must be hard keeping on top of things with so many kids on the site who don’t always clean up after them selfs.

But a little updating maybe. Wouldn’t put me off going.

Local attractions

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is perhaps the best known of all the Oxfordshire stately homes (and with good reason, for ’tis fab) but it’s worth taking a look at some others too, including Farnborough Hall (10 minutes), Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) and Upton House and Gardens (20 minutes). For a break from the classic Cotswolds activities, head out to meet the big birds of Fir Tree Falconry (15 minutes) or sigh over all the shiny machines at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes). And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).
