Countryside wanders? A bit of town time? Family days out? You can pick and choose from all three day by day during your stay at EuroParcs Beekbergen – this Gelderland site is in a particularly handy spot between Apeldoorn and the Hoge Veluwe National Park (about 15 minutes’ drive from both), with lots of kid-friendly days out in the area too.
Book a break here and you’ll be living in well-equipped 'tiny houses' surrounded by forests for a completely natural setting that lends itself well to proper relaxation. Each unit is kitted out with beds, a mini kitchen and a private bathroom, so you’ll be completely self sufficient here.
It’ll take you about 15 minutes or so to cycle up to Beekbergen for shops and places to eat (with bike hire on site if you need it) but you don’t have to venture that far if you don’t want to. There’s a mini market on site too, plus a snack bar to cater for smaller appetites and a restaurant serving up lunches and dinners with an Italian twist, either in the cosy interior or out on the sunny terrace.
Working up an appetite for any of these options should be easy enough, whether you choose to head out for a walk to a nearby waterfall or stick around on site to use the indoor pool, the tennis court or the fitness area. There are also several playgrounds and a go-kart rental service for the kids, along with an entertainment programme in the summer months.

Local attractions
If you fancy a little stroll from the park, take the kilometre-long trail to Loenense waterfall, a man-made cascade in the forest. After you’ve warmed up with that walk, plan something a little longer in the Hoge Veluwe National Park (15 minutes’ drive) – the country’s largest national park is full of woods, moorland and sand dune areas to explore on foot or by bike.
While you’re visiting the national park it’s worth seeking out the Kröller-Müller Museum (25 minutes to drive direct), which holds the second-largest collection of Van Gogh paintings in the world. For more cultural offerings, follow the ‘Eight Castles’ bike route nearby, or just head straight to Castle Vorden (35 minutes’ drive) or Palais Het Loo (20 minutes).
For kid-friendly days out, try a trip to meet the monkeys at Apenheul (20 minutes), a day at Julianatoren (20 minutes), a theme park designed mainly for under-12s, or a ride with the Veluwsche Steam Train Company from Beekbergen (five minutes).
