If ever there was an excuse to go out and treat yourself to some new swimming togs, a stay at Atlantica Parc Beach would probably be it…
The main reason for this is that (as you may have already noted from either the pics or the name…) this four-hectare Imi Ouaddar site is right by the beach, in a stunning spot that puts you a mere 50 metres from the sands and the sea. And it’s a pretty fab beach too: Aghroud beach is one of the finest in the Agadir region, stretching out for several sandy kilometres with plenty of scope for such things as surfing and jetskiing or simpler family days playing in the sand.
But that’s not all… turn your attentions away from the beach for a bit and it’s a kilometre’s walk to get to the smashing waterpark at the Atlantica Parc sister site (and enough pool and waterslide action to keep the entire family happily amused for many an hour).
If you’ve still got a bit of splashing left in you, there’s a smaller pool back at base too; if it’s time for a bit of drying off you can also let the kids loose at the inflatable games park, pick a table at the restaurant for dinner or grab a takeaway and scuttle off to find a place to watch the sunset (they’re often pretty stunning around here) as dusk falls over the Atlantic Ocean.

Local attractions
This may be one of the warmer parts of the world, but it’s worth remembering that sea out there is still the Atlantic Ocean, so it might be a tad chilly for swims through the winter. The surf waves tend to be fab all year round, however, and there’s always scope for things like horse rides and camel rides, or for hiring jetskis to take to the water.
Heading inland a bit, the aptly named Paradise Valley (50 minutes’ drive) is a fine place to get a bit more use out of your swimming kit. After a scenic hike around the rocky cliffs and waterfalls, cool off in the fresh water of the natural pools.
If you’d rather keep by the coast, it’s a half-hour drive to Agadir for days out viewing the creatures at Birds Valley and Crocoparc (20 minutes from the centre of town), climbing up to the Kasbah for sweeping seaside views or spending your pocket money in the town’s souks.
