Cycling types – get geared up. Taking to two wheels is a cinch from Camping de Montlouis-sur-Loire in Indre-et-Loire… all the way to the Atlantic coast should you feel so inclined. A certified Accueil Vélo site (that's 'bike friendly' to wheelie enthusiasts who don't speak the lingo), Les Peupliers is connected to a track of vast bike path La Loire à Vélo, running the length of the Loire to the coast near Nantes. It's also a short bike ride – or a couple of minutes' drive, if your seat is overly sore – from the town of Montlouis-sur-Loire in the Loire Valley. The site has been set up for family stays, where kids can get busy while adults get relaxed: the good-sized playground with swings, climbing frame and ping pong tables is set scenically so grownups can stretch out with a book while keeping an eye on their offspring, and the library and TV room has board games and a pool table for further amusement. There's a grocery store selling fresh local produce if your energy levels are high enough after a day's cycling to wield the barbecue tongs. A public pool is a 150-metre amble away for dips in July and August (they can give guests a preferential rate). But back to the biking – quite handliy for a region so dedicated to cycling, bike hire is on site for those who haven't brought their own wheels.

Liked: Very friendly and welcoming! Large pitches set amongst trees. A lovely quiet site (in April). The dog welcome bag was a lovely touch. Will definitely return for a longer stay. 🙂

Liked: Great location, easy to get to tours and Amboise on the cycle trail. Also a lovely hour walk to chateau de la Bourdaisière. Campsite is lovely and quiet and has everything you need.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Location was brilliant and had a great cycle route to tours and Amboise. The facilities were in good condition and regularly getting cleaned.
The pitches were really spacious and separated by bushes. They were also nicely shaded by trees.
We didn't use the pool but it looked nice and very popular. The staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival.
There was also food trucks in the evening which was really nice. Also the reception offer to do a boulangerie run everyday.

Liked: Wonderful helpful staff. Great site, clean tidy, flat pitches. Lovely atmosphere. Access to a great pool just a 2 minute walk. We used the site as a stop over and I wished we could have stayed longer. Lots of families either paddle boarding on the river or cycling. Lovely chap came who cooked pizzas in the evening. There was a lady who cooks breakfast in the morning. Supermarket 3 minute drive down the road. We will be back for longer next time!

Liked: Lugn camping på dagtid. Den hade bra läge vid floden Loire som passade bra för att göra utflykter. Personalen var trevlig.

Disliked: Mycket ljud från omkringliggande samhälle och vägen, samt störningar från vissa campinggäster nattetid. Vi hade svårigheter att somna. Gräsmattorna på campingplatserna var torra och gräset på många håll helt visset eller borta. Många av träden var döda. De hygieniska anläggningarna var i ganska dåligt skick, det fanns inte alltid toapapper eller tvål. Det fanns inget fungerande avlopp vid campingplatserna , det var översvämmat. Ej särskilt barnvänligt. Det fanns en gammal sliten liten lekplats i periferin.

Local attractions

La Loire à Vélo runs for 800 kilometres along the Loire riverbank for two thirds of its route, and greenways, low traffic roads and bike trails for the rest. Bike along the route to splendid Tours, about 35 minutes by bike, or for a gentler time ride the couple of kilometres via Rue Christophe Plantin to arrive in local town Montlouis-sur-Loire. As it's the Loire Valley, châteaux and vineyards are easily reached too, many within about 45 minutes' cycle. A ride of around 40 minutes on the local greenway will take you to the splendid gardens of the Château de Valmer, where you can also taste local wines. Within an hour and a half – or about 40 minutes by car – is Château de Villandry, or you could pedal 50 minutes or so to Amboise, to view the medieval Château d’Amboise and the Château de Clos Lucé, where Leonardo da Vinci once lived. Too much old stuff? Take the kids to marvel at the depths of the Grand Aquarium of Touraine, about half an hour's drive from the site.

Admission

Admission is only permitted after registering at reception.
All guests spending the night at the park must present their ID at the reception desk and sign registration forms.

Barbecues are permitted but must be raised off the ground and attended by an adult at all times.

In the event of a complaint, please speak to reception immediately. Complaints which are not brought to the management's attention during your stay cannot be dealt with once you have left the site.

Arrivals and departures

Late arrivals must notify the park as soon as possible. Your booking will be held for 24 hours. After this period the management reserves the right to relet your unit.
No refunds/discounts for inclement weather, late arrivals or early departures.

Vehicles

No vehicle movement between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m..
Only one car is to be parked by the pitch. Extra vehicles must be parked in the designated area.

Safety

Open fires are prohibited.

General

Quiet hours must be respected between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m..
Radio, music and TV players must be kept at a low volume. Car doors and boots must be closed quietly.

Reception

Reception is open from 9 a.m. to noon and from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. between 01/04 and 25/10.

Vehicles

The car is only included in the rate if you are travelling with a touring caravan or a tent. If you wish to bring a car along with your motorhome/campervan please select the extra.

General

The management reserves the right to deny access or terminate the stay of those guests whose behaviour is deemed unsuitable. No refunds will be offered.
