- Well-appointed Auvergne site overlooking the Gorges du Lignon
- Hikes directly from the site; 35 minutes' drive to Le Puy
- Seasonal heated outdoor pool and archery sessions; e-bikes for hire
With grounds split between a shaded meadow and a pine forest, Camping Du Sabot is a place that’s all about relaxing in a chilled-out natural environment. This Auvergne site looks out over the Gorges du Lignon and makes a great base for holidays spent in the open air – whether that’s hiking, cycling, playing golf, canoeing, fishing, horse riding… or simply putting your feet up on your peaceful pitch.
This spot on the edge of Saint-Maurice-de-Lignon is a handy one both for activities and for amenities – you can hike straight from the site up to the ‘Himalayan Footbridge’, or stroll into the village centre in about 15 minutes for shops and places to eat.
It’s a well-appointed site too, with lots of handy facilities including a launderette, a motorhome service point, a covered picnic area and clean modern bathrooms with free hot showers. In July and August, there’s also the addition of a small grocery store with fresh bread and croissants, and a snack bar that serves breakfasts, ice creams and paninis as well as hosting a weekly pizza night.
A playground, pétanque court, table tennis and a library of books for kids and adults should keep you busy on site for a little while; in summer you’ll also be able to swim in the heated outdoor pool, join in with pétanque competitions and try your hand at archery. Electric bikes can be hired on site, and there’s a good tourist info point in reception to give you a few ideas of where to go nearby.
