  • Family-run site five minutes' drive from the Pembrokeshire coast
  • Amenities in Fishguard and Goodwick are five minutes' drive away
  • Licensed café/restaurant on site (closed Mondays and Tuesdays)
You might be all of a dither about deciding days out when staying at decidedly relaxed Tregroes Caravan and Camping on the north Pembrokeshire coast. Its closest sandy beach is a mile and a half away, and, as this is Pembrokeshire, a few weeks’ worth of sands are a pushover to get to. Eats, shops and sightseeing are sorted at the coastal town of Fishguard (and the local pubs), within five minutes' drive of the site. And, although the site is set in quiet countryside, it’s close enough to the A40 that it’s decidedly simple to get to an abundant amount of north Pembrokeshire attractions and activities – St Davids, for example, is less than half an hour’s drive away. Or you might pick to simply ditch the car and catch a bus or train from Fishguard. Speaking of Fishguard, it's also where the Irish ferry departs for Rosslare – a week in Ireland either side of a Pembrokeshire holiday might sound decidedly Tre-mendous too. Or… you might just decide to stay on base, close to the spectacular scenery of the Pembrokeshire coast, and lazing about on an extensively-sized pitch picked right where you please. The kids could run around expending energy in the ample space on site while you kick back under an awning with an aperitif watching the splendid Pembrokeshire sunset. Need more than an aperitif? Book in for home-cooked lunches and evening meals at the licensed café-restaurant on site (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but open from Wednesday evening to Sunday lunchtime); book Sunday lunch and you'll get to check out late for free.

Cool electric grass pitch (firepit)

Liked: Loved the fact there is a bar and restaurant on site. We got 10% discount on food on our first night. The showers are amazing - I would like a shower like that at home!! Picnic table with the pitch is a great idea. Ideally located, walkable to and from Fishguard. Great stay - we booked an extra night!

Disliked: Nothing to dislike about Tregroes at all.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: It was very quite, the toilet block was very clean. The washing up facilities were good for the number of people on site, but may be a problem at busy times. The food was good in the evening with very friendly staff.

Disliked: No contact with owners/manager of site as reception was never manned.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thankyou for your review.

We have always found the number of facilities adequate for the numbers on site but we will continue to monitor to make sure this is the case.

The site office is not manned at set times, but the restaurant alongside is run by us and we are front of house so you will have met us in there.

Cool electric grass pitch (firepit)

Liked: Lovely toilet and shower block couldn’t fault them for cleanliness, The toilets were well lit by night. If you’re looking for a family run friendly park this isn’t.An ideal stop over. Or ideal base for exploring out of.

Disliked: No convenience shop on site for bread or milk that we could see. No one around to ask about things plenty of honesty boxes info leaflets and maps a phone number to call for anything, impersonal.
Loud bass music until early hours from a venue on the site which bothered the couple who we travelled with (think it was a private function).

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thankyou for your review.

Tregroes is a great base for exploring the coast path and local area.

The amenities of Fishguard and Goodwick (Coop/Tesco/Bakery/Londis) are a 2/3 min drive away for bread and milk etc

We live alongside the site and are on site daily both maintaining the pitches and working in the restaurant so it really is no bother to call us.

Local attractions

Fishguard first if travelling by feet: like pretty much all the towns of the Pembrokeshire coast, it's a beaut. Hire a kayak here and take off a-paddling around Fishguard Bay – as it might be tricky manipulating both camera and paddle, have an additional day sea fishing from Fishguard Harbour and taking splendid shots of your catches as you go. Pembrokeshire's known as one of the best places in Wales to see watery wildlife like dolphins, seals, porpoises, seabirds and – if you’re very lucky – possibly a minke whale. Several operators offer sea safaris around these parts, and plenty more are on hand for active days out coasteering, cycling, sailing, horse riding, surfing, caving and climbing. On land, have a delve into Welsh history – the villages around Tregroes are a simple place to start, as are coastal towns like St Dogmaels with its 12th-century abbey and the Pen-Rhiw burial chambers at Goodwick just along the shore. Apart from Powys, Pembrokeshire has more Scheduled Ancient Monuments than anywhere else in Wales: try the Garn Wen burial chamber in Fishguard, the stone circles of the Preseli Hills, the cathedral at St Davids and the long-ago cairns of Carningli Mountain.
