Relax and unwind amid glorious greenery at Wood View Farm Glamping, a small-scale rural site in the green Kent countryside around an hour's drive from London. This glamping spot is an excellent choice for easy city escapes for couples or families – top South East England towns and cities like Ashford, Hastings and Canterbury can all be comfortably reached within an hour, and there are plenty of attractions and activities around too, with the nearest beaches roughly half an hour away by road.
This is a place where you can tailor your stay to your own requirements – bring along all your own kit and furnish your tent as you wish (an air bed is already provided), or book ahead to add in extra comforts like duvets, pillows and bed linen or hire a firepit or a barbecue. Portable toilets and showers (which are exclusive to each group) are a short walk away from the tents, and there's plenty of space around for kids to play games or run about.
High Halden village centre is roughly a mile away from Wood View Farm Glamping. Think a traditional country pub, restaurant, barber or convenience store would be handy while away? All can be reached within a 20-minute walk.
Slightly further away, Kent has a whole host of family-friendly attractions waiting to be explored. Top-rated favourites nearby include Sissinghurst Castle (15 minutes' drive), Bodiam Castle (30 minutes) and the pretty market town of Tenterden (10 minutes).

- No cars/motorbikes by the pitch/unit. All cars must be parked in the designated area.
- The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.
- At least one of the party members must be aged 25 or over.
- Minimum spacing of 3 metres between pitches.
- This is a quiet site: no music is allowed.
- If making a fire, the fuel, logs and coal have to be purchased on site.
- Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the site are unlit.
- No naked flames are allowed inside the hired accommodation units.
- Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.
- No electric barbecues allowed.

If you’re not shopping or catching a film at the cinemas in Ashford (15 minutes' drive), occupy yourself with chasing down some stunning natural sites or wildlife-packed places. Port Lympne Safari Park (30 minutes) has over 900 species of animals to see, while South of England Rare Breeds Centre (15 minutes) is home to smaller farm animals and birds of prey.
Want to act a little like an ape yourself instead? At Go Ape Bedgebury (30 minutes), you’ll soon feel that way on the treetop courses and zipwires in the treetops.
Those of you who want to see some old sites can head for historic Hastings (50 minutes), where fishing boats meet funiculars and clifftop walks meet strolls in the Old Town. Whether you’re having a paddle on the shingle beach or going underground into tunnels once used by smugglers, there’s always a bit of sea or history around the corner.
Then, there’s Canterbury (50 minutes), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and well worth the title – just take a look at the spectacular cathedral, St Augustine’s Abbey and the medieval gatehouse (home to its own escape room).
