  • Friendly adults-only site at the foot of the Malvern Hills
  • Access to Castlemorton Common and 35 minutes’ walk from Little Malvern
  • Barbecues permitted on site; walk to four country pubs
Keen to get away to the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty? Looking for a break where your dog can get involved with the hill walking? A peaceful spot within walking distance of multiple cosy country pubs? Marlbrook Farm is here to get things started… The family-run, adults-only site based on a working horse livery yard is in the Malvern Hills AONB with direct access to Castlemorton Common and a 10-minute drive from the Three Counties Showground. Don your hiking boots and head for the common or the hills – the site is just 35 minutes’ walk from Little Malvern and under 10 minutes’ drive from British Camp Hill Fort. Those of you who’d rather mount your bicycle and get pedalling can set your sights on historic Ledbury (15 minutes’ drive or 45 minutes’ cycle) and the peaceful riverside in Upton upon Severn (25 minutes’ drive or cycle) too. Hill walking and cycling aside, those wishing to tip back a few local ales and indulge in some country pub grub will be pleased to find four such establishments within walking distance. The closest is just 15 minutes’ walk away and the remainder are 25 minutes’ walk or 35 minutes’ walk away – so judge your favourite for yourselves. If barbecues with stunning views are high on your priorities too, good news. They're permitted on site, and there’s a village shop 10 minutes’ walk away to simplify sourcing ingredients. Facilities on this peaceful independent site include one shower and two toilets located a short walk away from the pitches (passing by the horse stables) and a chemical disposal point.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked The pitch was a good size and there was a tap right next to it. The views of the hills were great and the location, being so close to the common was pretty good.

Disliked I have stayed in hundreds of campsites over the years and have never experienced such terrible facilities. I recognise that sites sometimes indicate that their facilities are basic but this does not entitle them to simply leave them to get in a disgusting state, which Malbrook Farm seen to think is fine. The 2 toilets/1 shower set up would be adequate if they were clean but both areas were covered in cobwebs and smelt absolutely foul. I challenged the site about the unpleasant state and they informed me that I was expecting too much and they considered it "rustic" and assured me that the areas are "cleaned regularly". Yeah right.

But the worst part is the 'washing up' area next to the equestrian zone. There are thick layers of filth and dust on the worktop, table and sofa. The sole sink had the remains of a tree or large bush dumped in it and was unusable. My partner and I needed to use it but were unable to so we had to go elsewhere to do our washing up. There is a freezer next to the sink which looks like it's had a body stored in it. There is rusty filth mixed with the water at the base. Again, I've never seen anything like it at a campsite.

We booked for 2 nights but could only stomach 1 night. I raised my concerns with the site and asked for a refund for the second night based on the terrible state of the site which they flatly refused to give me.

I would only recommend this site to someone who is completely self-contained and doesn't need to shower, use a toilet or (especially) do any washing up.

To anyone else, unless you are partial to depilated facilities that have been left to rot into a shocking state of disrepair, I would advise you to go elsewhere for your camping experience.

From the manager: Dear Adam,
I am sorry to hear that you were so unsatisfied with our site.

As I did say to you the bathroom and shower is well documented to be basic.
It is cleaned regularly but it is in a barn so predisposed to dust and cobwebs and muddy footprints.
I can only apologise for the washing up sink. I went to investigate after you reported it had a tree in it and I was surprised to see a sink full of twigs which were fairly obviously from a pigeon nest! I did explain it is a rustic site! This must have happened very recently as it was used by campers in previous days. They were fairly easy to remove so the sink is now clear again.

The sofa and the freezer that you have submitted pictures of are nothing to do with the campsite so I am unsure of the relevance of them.
They are both stored in a hut open to the elements and not part of campers facilities and therefore not representative of the site... I am mystified as to why you went to and opened up the freezer. It's a bit like going in to one of the stables and being upset that you found horse poo in it!
In light of your comments I will be keeping an eye on pesky pigeons and make it clearer to campers the areas that are out of bounds.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked South paddock tranquility - pitch 4 was perfect. An orchard view which felt like I had my own garden with dappled shade in the hot weather. A great location for walking in the Malverns

Disliked I can imagine some might find the facilities a little sparse and basic.
Some traffic noise which was a surprise for the location.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked The site was quiet and friendly, The pitches were level and large with excellent views of the Malvern Hills. The pre arrival instructions had sufficient detail to arrive without site contact, including clear travel directions. This was a great site for the first test of our campervan.
Advised in advance there would be no wifi.

Disliked Could have done with arrival information the day before rather than on day of arrival. Toilets out of toilet paper on the Saturday and still not replenished Sunday morning (Most campers come prepared for that though)
On the pricey side for basic site facilities.

I would certainly recommend this lovely site to friends.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Very good sized pitch. Accommodated us and our friends giving us side by side pitches. Lovely and quiet site with excellent areas to walk our dogs.

Disliked Not really disliked but a shame there wasn't more showers for the site and the toilets could do with a sweep of the cobwebs.

Beautiful setting, very level site. Friendly welcome. Basic facilities but absolutely fine.…

Local attractions

From the site, walk straight out onto Castlemorton Common. From there, it'll take you around an hour to walk to the top of the Malvern Hills without even crossing a road. On the edge of Welland, the site is also within walking distance of the annual Welland Steam & Country Rally event. There are many more festivals in Upton upon Severn (25 minutes’ drive) For a peek into the past, try Little Malvern Priory (35 minutes' walk) or Eastnor Castle (10 minutes' drive). The latter has a deer park, arboretum and a grand castle with turrets overlooking the lake. Gawp at the state rooms in the castle or try and work your way out of the garden maze. If you’re looking to switch things up, you might want to roll down to the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (25 minutes) for yet more wanders or watersports on the River Wye.
