Grass pitches in peaceful setting

  • Quiet site on the outskirts of the small mountain town Pola de Somiedo
  • In the middle of the Somiedo Natural Park for outdoor activities
  • Spectacular scenery, nearby fishing, playground and restaurant
Who might be tempted by a peaceful park in a smashing setting of outdoor activity, in a national park and a place – sssh – not known to many? Get as active or serene as you like at La Pomarada De Somiedo in Asturias, on the outskirts of the small mountain town of Pola de Somiedo. As the town is home to the Somiedo Natural Park headquarters, it'll be a breeze to sort outdoor options from here, like horse riding and skiing nearby as well as a plentiful selection of walking paths and mountain bike routes through forests and valleys, lakes and old villages. This is also a good base for photography and wildlife watching: Somiedo Natural Park is a habitat for many species including the Cantabrian brown bear (these last can be rather elusive, so zip along to the Asturian Bear Foundation just over an hour away if you want to be certain of a furry sighting). La Pomarada De Somiedo is a green site with spectacular mountain views, plenty of space and fishing in the local river a few hundred metres away. It has free wifi, a playground and a restaurant with a takeaway service so you can munch your meals pitchside among this splendid mountainous setting. A small supermarket is also on site, and shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance. A swimming pool is 200 metres away.

Power optional grass campervan campsite

Liked: Spectacular quiet mountain location with clean, facilities, large pitches and friendly owners. A 1.5km walk along a trail to the bear viewing point where we could comfortably watch a mother and her cubs high up in the mountain side. A real treat. The campsite was quiet beginning of June but it’s large grass plots would probably feel spacious even if a bit busier.

Power optional grass tent campsite

Liked: Beautiful location. Pitches were generous, easy access to water and electricity. Bathrooms and showers clean and spacious. Wi-Fi worked well.

Disliked: Nothing that the campsite can control but the weather can get chilly at night times so wear something warm!

Power optional grass tent campsite

Liked: Prachtige omgeving. Vriendelijk onthaal. Kleine gezellige camping

Disliked: De nachtelijke feesten in het dorp die tot de ochtend verdergaan. Waarschijnlijk enkel het 2de weekend van september, maar doorgaan tot 5 a 6 uur in de ochtend? Toch wat te veel van het goede.

Power optional grass campervan campsite

Liked: Views of the mountains are spectacular. Clean facilities and close proximity to pretty village and local walks

Disliked: Having to move the van when a very rude Spanish couple insisted we were on their pitch and the management agreed they should not have told us to pitch there!
Access to terraces is very very steep for vehicles and pitches are small
