  • Quiet, luxury Krimovica site five minutes by bike from Trsteno Beach
  • Kotor old town 25 minutes’ drive; Lake Skadar National Park an hour
  • Safari tents with shaded verandahs; swimming pool, restaurant and bar
Looking for a glamorous Krimovica glamping retreat? You’ve certainly found just that at Sea Glamping, a pocket-sized luxury resort tucked into a meadow and planted with palms, olive trees and indigenous herbs. Cool (both style- and temperature-wise) accommodation is in spacious safari tents, all with shaded verandahs offering spectacular views over forested hills. Every tent has a bathroom (towels and toiletries supplied) and a kitchen with all the basics. Sleeping up to four guests in double, single and bunk beds, they also have spacious open-plan living quarters with cosy seating areas and wooden dining tables. If you don’t feel like cooking, all you need to do is head down to the terrace restaurant – which serves fresh local food – or grab a snack at the bar. Other family-friendly amenities that will keep you firmly on site include the swimming pool – again with stunning vistas from the sun deck – and a yoga platform for exercise and meditation sessions, which morphs into an open-air cinema at night. Want to head down to the sea? You’re only five minutes’ cycle ride (hire an e-bike on site) from Trsteno Beach, known for its rich diary of festivals over the summer.

Local attractions

Two national parks are nearby if you’d like to explore the Kotor region in more depth. Lake Skadar (an hour’s drive) is known through Montenegro for its diversity of flora and fauna, with 270 different birds and around 50 fish species regularly sighted there, including herons, eagles and giant carp; you can explore the lake on colourful wooden craft. Just north of the site is Mount Lovćen National Park (20 minutes), popular for hiking and climbing among the breathtaking scenery of the Dinara Alps. For heritage sightseers, the religious treasures of Cetinje Monastery (45 minutes) are available for viewing by guided tour, while the pretty old town of Sveti Stefan (25 minutes) sits on a tiny Adriatic island anchored by causeway to the mainland. Kotor’s ancient centre (also 25 minutes) beckons with its historic churches, medieval palaces and winding cobbled streets lined with cafés, but if it’s late-night action you’re after, Budva (15 minutes) is a hub for clubbing where you can bar hop until dawn. Chances are that you may just want to flop on the beach. In addition to lively Trsteno (five minutes by e-bike), you can try the smart lido at Ploce (five minutes) for its watersides and bar, or sandy Jaz (10 minutes) for swimming off the wide sweep of soft sand.
