If you're after an Italian seaside and family holiday, Village Baia Falcone near Vieste in the province of Foggia is a tiptop pick for all ages… For not only does it have direct access to its own private beach (spectacular: see pics), the clear and clean waters here are safely shallow for tiddler paddling as well as suitable for grownup pursuits like windsurfing and snorkelling. The array of activities all around should suit most ages and tastes too: the site is set on the Gargano promontory four kilometres north of the village of Vieste, and on the edge of Foresta Umbra in the Gargano National Park, the last remnant of Apulia's ancient forest. It's a hikers' paradise here, with plenty of marked trails, picnic spots and wildlife watching among roe deer, wild boar, foxes, badgers and rare wildcats. Baia Falcone is a big but peaceful park, in the quiet and secluded bay of Scialmarino. It has a good range of facilities including a bar-restaurant and pizzeria, a mini market, tennis court, a play area and a TV room. Amenities include toilets and showers, a laundry room and a washing-up area.

Disliked: Non mi è piaciuto niente!!! Il campeggio non ha terra battuta ma terra che ti impolvera dappertutto al solo camminare, tende e camper sono tutt’e assieme nelle stesse piazzole, nessuno scarico camper, il bar misero e poco fornito chiude la sera presto ma non ha nessun cartello orari.. e anche la gestrice sembrava molto seccata dal dover preparare due caffè alle 9 del mattino. I bagni sporchi è buio come pure le docce che però devo dire sono fornite di acqua calda. Un campeggio con spiaggia annessa ma a pagamento e su prenotazione. Non ti senti né accolto né coccolato ma solo parcheggiato! In un campo terroso e con formiche e formicai ovunque. E il cane? Nonostante siano ammessi gli animali devi tenerli al guinzaglio tutto il tempo! Nessuno spazio per loro, nessuna ciotola d’acqua in giro per il camping e per i bisogni devi, sempre al guinzaglio portarlo fuori dal campeggio su strada asfaltata. Non lo consiglio assolutamente! Mi spiace davvero perché ho aspettato questa vacanza per un anno intero e dovrò aspettare altrettanto tempo per rifarmi “la bocca” da una vacanza sprecata😤

Liked: Posto molto bello e attrezzato, spiaggia ben servita c’è la possibilità di prenotare i lettini oppure di stare nella spiaggia libera con attrezzatura propria ( consiglio perché i lettini e ombrellone hanno un costo in più )
Camping ben servito , c’è un area dove è possibile lavare panni o piatti. Bagni puliti.

Disliked: Il bar chiude davvero molto presto e l’animazione serale non era sempre presente rendendo così un po’ noiosa l’aria in campeggio.
Il fatto di mettere della musica o chiacchierare oltre le 23/23:30 non viene visto bene.

Local attractions

After days on the beach or windsurfing and snorkelling from its waters, another top local option is the small medieval village of Vieste four kilometres from Camping Baia Falcone and with spectacular sea views from its promontory. Its best-known sites are the 13th-century Castello Svevo, the 19th-century lighthouse and the Pizzomunno, the 25-metre monolith near the town's Castle beach. The thickets, wildlife and marked trails of the Foresta Umbra should see you sorted for another few days' worth of activities, sightseeing, birdwatching and wildlife spotting. Wildcats are among the rarest critters to try and see here and over 65 species of orchid lurk on the forest floor for flower fans. Windsurfing, spear and sea fishing, boating, diving and exploring sea caves and yet more beaches are all around the Gargano coast at popular destinations such as Mattinatella, Fontana delle Rose, Zagare, Rodi Garganico, Manaccora and Zaiana. Among the many other regional attractions are days out at Monte Sant'Angelo, San Giovanni Rotondo, Castel del Monte, Barletta, Trani, the Trulli of Alberobello, Castellana Caves and Zoosafari Fasanolandia.
