- Small Brittany site with direct access to the Blavet Canal towpath
- Five minutes' drive from Baud, and half an hour from the coast
- Canoe hire two minutes' walk away; bicycle hire and play area on site
How does a canalside stroll sound as a nice gentle holiday activity? Or maybe you’d rather take a canoe out for a paddle? Both of these are easily accessed for guests at Camping de Pont Augan – this Morbihan site is right next to the Blavet Canal, with direct access to the towpath and a canoe hire place two minutes’ walk away.
Along with all the watery views you’ll get along the canal, there’s a pond just next to the site that makes a lovely backdrop for a quiet afternoon with your book, or perhaps a peaceful picnic. And there are plenty more spots to relax in at this site, which sits in a six-acre wooded park about five minutes’ drive from the town of Baud (a handy place to find a supermarket, bakery or restaurant).
With a few low-key facilities on site (a play area, pétanque court and bike hire) rather than lots of entertainments, this is a fine spot for a chilled-out break with your partner or family (and your dog, if you have one). A café, small food shop and barbecue area are on hand to help keep everyone fed, and there’s also wifi, a washing-up area and bathroom facilities.
This is also a nifty location for days out, with outdoor pursuits, historic attractions and the beaches and seaside towns of the Brittany coastline all within a half-hour drive.

Local attractions
Your first outing should of course be either a walk along the Blavet Canal towpath or some time spent paddling a canoe hired from Club Nautique de Baud, two minutes’ walk away. For more water-based outings, hire electric boats from L’Ecluserie (20 minutes’ drive) or head to West wake park (15 minutes) to have a go at wakeboarding or bounce across the inflatable assault course.
Away from the water, there are a couple of great family options close by in the form of Kingoland amusement park and La Balade du Père Nicolas, which has a whole lot of outdoor activities as well as animals to meet. You may also like to spark young imaginations by stepping back in time at the village of Poul Fétan or Village de l'An Mil – both give you a real sense of bringing history to life as you explore. All of these are about 15 minutes’ drive away.
And there’s always the option of a trip to the seaside – try Lorient (half an hour) for maritime attractions and boat trips to Groix and Larmor-Plage (35 minutes) for beach days.
