Previous guests rave about this site’s well-appointed facilities, its family-friendliness and its handy Normandy setting, an easy kilometre from its local settlement of La Haye-du-Puits. The Camping L'Etang des Haizes vicinity sets guests up for holidays of all flavours, providing plentiful outdoor activity and sightseeing options around the area, from horse and donkey rides and pedals along local cycle paths, to beaches, an adventure park and canoeing within 10 minutes, plus a golf course and a spectacular coastal walk around Cape Carteret within 20. Days spent on site are bound to go swimmingly too, at the ample facilities to amply occupy guests of all ages: first off, the aquatic area has a roomy pool and a four-track slide to whizz down, a whirlpool to bubble away in and a paddling pool where teenies can jump in for safe splashtime. The swimming pool is right next to a pond where guests can relax on a rented pedal boat or simply settle down among the peaceful surrounds with a picnic. Keep your eyes peeled, because you can sometimes see the greedy ducks that have taken up residence on the pond. Elsewhere on dry land, there are two playground areas with slides, a rope bridge and outdoor toys, and a kids' club with activities, games and creative play. Foodwise, shops, restaurants and a weekly Wednesday market in La Haye-du-Puits are all within a kilometre.

Liked The size of the pitch was ample for our tent and car, the facilities are great, the pool and slides looked great fun (unfortunately the weather wasn’t quite pool weather). The toilets and showers were kept spotless and tidy. A credit to them. The bar and food offered was of a good standard and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Lovely place to visit.

Disliked Only downside was having to pay for Wi-Fi. Other sites we’ve stayed at offered free Wi-Fi. Great place to stay just not for me and my older children would prefer a quieter location with less younger children

Liked Very friendly site, lots of info given on arrival. Bar was good, entertainment was also enjoyed. Pool area was nice. Whole site was very clean and looked after. Our girls enjoyed the kids club. The pitch size was large.

Liked What an amazing campsite. Staff are so nice and very helpful. We needed help with a pole and they were fantastic in solving our problem. They speak brillant English. Facilities are very clean. Staff always working hard to keen them clean as well. Lovely pool and child friendly. Pitches are large and well kept with most having some hedges in between. Lovely bar overlooking the pool they serve nice burgers and fries. There's a brillant 65km off road cycle track very close. Pretty town within 6 mins walk. Highly recommend 👌

Liked This campsite has perfect location close to many atractions in Normandy and is only 45 min drive from Cherbourg. We stayed on good size tent pich surrounded by hedge and apple trees with my two sons and we all ejoyed our holiday. It had electricity, water tab and spotles clean toilets were in short distance. We like pool with waterslide and plenty of sunbeds,fishing pont,and evening entertainment,especially live music band.

Disliked You have to pay for wi-fi.

Disliked wifi isn't free. facilities are shubby. Most of toilets has no toilet seats(turkish style). There are 2 toilet paper holders to share with all cubicles. Staff are not so good english speakers.

From the manager: Sorry you didn't like our site. Difficult to please everybody. Luckily you had toilet paper and it was not missing (we make sure it never does). Cleaning is made 5 times a day (minimum), and only in the smaller sanitary block, the toilets (which are not turkish) are with no cover seats. If you expect english staff to speak your language, sorry, but we are in France and not every body speaks fluent english ! We believe you enjoyed all the other services, equipment and help we can provide to make everybody Happy ! Patrice LAURENT.

Liked Location! Easy walk in to La Haye. Supermarkets in walking distance. The site is clean and well presented. Staff helpful. Decent size patches with hedges round creating privacy. Fresh bread delivered in a morning if ordered the night before. Pool is a good size, kids loved the slides. Pizza truck was good which came to site on one of the nights we stayed.

Liked Fantastic site. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Pool was great and we loved the slides and water polo. Super location to explore DDay landing sites. Pizza van was delicious. Local town a short walk away had lovely shops and a great market on Wednesdays. Everywhere was really clean and looked after.

Disliked Showers were a bit hit and miss with temperature, pressure etc
Missed having plugs in the sinks but this is only minor.

Local attractions

There’s a fair bit to do within a kilometre, from scenic horseback tours and sedate donkey rides to pleasant pedals along local cycle circuits. Also within easy reach are canoeing and kayaking, archery and mountain bike hire at the leisure base of Saint Sauveur le Vicomte, where there’s also an adventure tree-climbing centre. An 18-hole coastal golf course is a short drive away at Saint-Jean-de-la-Rivière. For a pleasant and family-friendly seaside resort, head to the spectacular sandy beach of Barneville-Carteret, also a lively fishing and sailing port with boat connections to the Channel Islands for seafaring sightseers. Coastal hikes can be had from here too: get onto the Douaniers footpath for a seaview promenade around Cape Carteret. The World War II Normandy landing beaches of Utah, Sainte-Mère-Église and Omaha are within an hour's drive.
