- Family-run adults-only rural retreat 10 minutes’ drive from Condom
- Medieval Larressingle 20 minutes’ drive, and Nérac 15 minutes
- Pre-erected tents; dipping pool, boating lake, barn and outdoor lounge
Yearning for a camping break with your beloved in south-west France, but not quite so keen on actually putting up a tent? Here’s your answer. Tucked away in a peaceful rural location on the border of Lot-et-Garonne and the Gers, Finders Keepers France is a family-owned adults-only site where the tents have already been put up for you.
Yep, that’s right, no messing around with tent poles for you. And to up the ante further, there are just a handful of tents scattered around a walnut orchard, each equipped with the basics of bedding and kitchen utensils, as well as a fully equipped communal camping kitchen. Add to that spectacular country views from the pitches, and this becomes a great place to hang out together, turn your back on technology and recharge those batteries.
You’re welcome to wander the extensive grounds, try out the wildlife viewing areas, read a book from the library or simply take a nap in a hammock. Feeling more active? Take a dip in the small pool, paddle a canoe on the lake or head to the covered barn for games of pool and darts.
And there’s more. Watch the sunset from the outdoor lounge, peer up at the night sky through the telescope… and if there is anything else you could possibly want, the chilled husband-and-wife team who own the place are on hand for any queries.

Local attractions
The gorgeous once-fortified village of Larressingle (20 minutes’ drive) has plenty to engage lovers of history and architecture, such as its gently crumbling castle ruins and tiny, austere Église Saint-Sigismond surrounded by stout walls. Within this medieval complex there are a couple of bars – just the spot for a refreshing glass of regional Côtes de Gascogne wine.
Pretty Nérac (15 minutes) has a cluster of half-timbered buildings at its centre, and a museum showcasing the history of the local areas in the Château de Nérac – once home of King Henri IV. Have a peaceful wander through the leafy Parc de la Garenne, and admire the view across the rooftops from the belvedere above the River Baïse. Cool off afterwards with a dip in the Grecian-themed swimming pool at Lud’O Parc (20 minutes).
Condom (10 minutes) is yet another gorgeous town, with jewel-coloured stained-glass windows in the 16th-century cathedral, peaceful vaulted cloisters and several fine old mansions to tour. Culture dealt with, you can also take a barge trip along the Baïse, ride a bike along its banks or see how local Armagnac is made in its namesake museum.
