Pitches

  • Spacious, sheltered pitches at a peaceful Dordogne family site
  • Dordogne river 10 minutes' drive; 15 minutes to Domme
  • Restaurant, two pools, playground and summer entertainment on site
With spacious and well-appointed pitches surrounded by a lovely forest landscape, Camping Les Pialades makes a fabulous base for a family holiday in the Dordogne region. Guests here will experience a friendly and laidback atmosphere underpinned by the owners’ aim to showcase authentic Dordogne hospitality. This is a green and peaceful location about five minutes’ drive from the village of Nabirat, and the pitches have that chilled-out countryside feeling, with shelter and privacy from the surrounding trees and hedges. Outdoor activities – including hiking, cycling, watersports and fishing – are plentiful in the surrounding area, and you’ll also be well placed for outings to places like the Lascaux caves and Eyrignac Gardens as well as the villages and châteaux the area is known for. In between all these days out, head back to the site to spend time at one of the two swimming pools, play a game of pétanque or relax while the kids run about at the playground. You can also chill out indoors at the TV room or games room, or plan your day around whatever entertainment is on during the summer months. Food is always an important part of the day here in the Périgord Noir, and at this site you’ll have the choice of picking up local produce from the on-site convenience store or taking a table at the restaurant for a tasty meal, served either inside the tavern or out on the terrace. Pizzas, salads and local dishes are on the menu, along with the chance to cook your own meal on a mini brazier. A snack bar and drinks bar are also on site for smaller meals, ice creams and drinks.

Local attractions

Fancy exploring the area? There are lots of trails for hiking and biking nearby, and the site staff can hook you up with rental bikes (including e-bikes) if you’ve not brought your own wheels. The banks of the Dordogne river are about 10 minutes’ drive away too, with canoes, kayaks and paddleboards available to hire for those who’d like to take to the water. For classic Dordogne sights, you’ll want to head to places like Castelnaud-la-Chapelle Castle (25 minutes’ drive), Château de Beynac (half an hour) and the pretty villages of Domme (15 minutes) and La Roque-Gageac (20 minutes). If it’s foodie treats you’re after, try the markets in Sarlat-la-Canéda (25 minutes) and Le Bugue (50 minutes). Leave some time to delve underground, too – at the Lascaux Caves, famed for their replica prehistoric paintings, and Gouffre de Proumeyssac, where you can see stalactites and stalagmites galore. Both are 45 minutes’ drive away. Back up at surface level, the Eyrignac and Marqueyssac gardens are both within a half-hour drive.
