  • Spacious family-size shepherd’s hut in the Ceredigion countryside
  • Devil’s Bridge Waterfalls 15 minutes’ drive; Aberystwyth 25 minutes
  • Well-equipped kitchen, ensuite shower and private garden with barbecue
Peace, wildlife and spectacular views over Ceredigion countryside are what you get in spades at Brondel Glamping, 25 minutes’ drive inland of Aberystwyth in Ceredigion. Accommodation is in a rather natty shepherd’s hut tucked into a quiet corner of a 23-acre smallholding on the outskirts of the village of Llanfihangel-y-Creuddyn. Sleeping up to four, the hut is decidedly spacious, with two bunks (best for kids aged up to about 15) and a proper king-size bed (all bed linen is provided). The kitchen corner has a cooker and Belfast sink, hob and small fridge, and there’s a cosy dining area as well as an ensuite bathroom with bags of hot water for the shower. Hang out outside in your private garden on warm days to spy red kites circling overhead, all the while watching out for badgers and rabbits scurrying about in the undergrowth. There’s very little light pollution in these parts too, so on clear nights you can watch the Milky Way shimmering away up in the skies as you spark up a barbecue supper. You wouldn’t want to miss out on a nose around Llanfihangel-y-Creuddyn (10 minutes’ walk), both for its peaceful 13th-century church and its well-known foodie pub. If you fancy a longer walk over the field from your pitch, the hilltop hamlet of Pisgah (34 minutes) has another welcoming country pub where your four-legged friends are very welcome.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: We liked everything at Brondel, it is glamping with a capital G. Great location, isolated and private, with great views on the Welsh hills. Animals nearby, sheep and horses for young children excitement. The hut is fantastic with a lot of comfort you don't necessarily expect in glamping (big hot water tank, very wide double bed, very well equipped kitchen corner, very clean and well designed bathroom). The perfect bank holiday week end break.
Icing on the cake the host Ellen can't do enough to ensure you've gave a good stay.

Shepherd's hut

Liked: We loved this place. It was immaculate and clean. The hut was spacious and well thought out with everything you would need for a short stay. Large comfy bed with quality mattress. Instant hot water, cosy and warm with log burner which Elen had lit prior to arrival. Elen was super kind and friendly and had left us a welcome basket and put out fresh flowers. Communication with her excellent. Peaceful, private and quiet in the heart of nature but close enough to some amazing country pubs. Our dog loved this place too. Would def go back without hésitation. While there is no WiFi we had good mobile phone reception so it wasn't an issue.

Disliked: We loved everything

Shepherd's hut

Liked: The hut was lovely inside & the wood burning stove kept it very cosy. There was plenty of room, bed very comfy & everything you could need was in the hut. Outside beautiful views, very peaceful, we had lovely fires outside in the eve, the night sky was amazing… I like the fact that the hut is not surrounded by other huts, that was very important to us. It was also only 25 min drive to Aberystwyth and less to Devils bridge so a great location. Elen was a wonderful host, nothing was too much trouble, she is an absolute gem! The internet isn’t great but to be expected. I would come back here in a heartbeat and will :)

Shepherd's hut

Liked: Really enjoyed our stay at The Shepard's Hut, beautiful place, so peaceful and quiet, if you just want to relax and get away from it all this is the place to stay. Hosts were fantastic, couldn't do enough for you, lovely little welcome basket on arrival and fresh flowers on display to make the whole place smell wonderful. As you're in the middle of nowhere the night sky is an amazing sight to witness. I've read some reviews about the track leading to the cabin being bumpy, but what do you expect, it's a farm, we had no trouble driving up and down, just take it easy and you'll be fine. Plenty of small little pubs around with fantastic food and only 20 mins away from Aberystwyth. Definitely recommend if you want to get away from everything.

Disliked: Nothing.
