  • Pop-up site half a mile from Spean Bridge in the Highlands and Islands
  • Nevis Range Mountain Resort 10 minutes’ drive; Ben Nevis 20 minutes
  • Self-serve coffee; food on weekends; shuttle bus to Nevis Range
Heading for the Highlands and Islands? Then you should be pleased to hear about Glen Spean Camping, a pop-up site with a family atmosphere half a mile east of Spean Bridge. This site might be simple – facilities include portable toilets, sinks, picnic benches and a common area (no showers) – but the views to the Grey Corries and Aonach Mòr in the Nevis Range are spectacular. The site is on the road to Skye and Inverness, a short drive away from the Salomon Skyline Scotland trail running event, and 10 minutes from Aonach Mòr. Shuttle buses to take you up to all the action in the Nevis Range Mountain Resort (10 minutes’ drive) will be running a couple of minutes’ stroll away from the field. Meanwhile, Fort William and Loch Linnhe are just a 20-minute drive away from the site; check out the West Highland Museum, Ben Nevis and the Ben Nevis Distillery. Back on site, there is an on-site brewery with a bottle shop running events on some evenings; it's open on Fridays and weekends only, as well as the occasional Thursday. Self-serve coffee is provided for those who would like a morning or afternoon brew, and there's also food available on weekends from the Hebridean Larder food truck.

What customers say

Great spot with amazing mountain views, a hit for mountain biking with an on-site shuttle. Guests loved the friendly staff, clean amenities, lots of space, and good value. Brewery & pizza nearby were bonuses. Minor gripes: few showers, hilly pitches, need more toilets in spots. Some found campers noisy.

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Could arrive at any time! Not many campsites allow this.
When we knew we'd arrive later at night this was amazing.

Views are amazing. Campsite owner was amazing aswell!

Disliked - Could do with more benches by the fire
- The grass is tall so does mean very wet feet when its rainy
- A bit noisy at night due to people at fire being up very late with music playing

Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Beautiful views and really lovely vibe at the campsite with very friendly owners. Really great location too, close to supermarkets, camping gear shops and Ben Nevis!! Felt very cosy on site when other people pitched up. Great beer too at their brewery!! Would really recommend staying.

Disliked One thing I would say to the campsite is maybe add a high squatty potty in the compostable toilet 😂because my feet struggled to reach the ground which isn’t the most comfortable when using it
