  • Peaceful, low-impact pitches with views of Cannington Viaduct
  • A 10-minute drive from Lyme Regis beaches and The Cobb harbour
  • Family-friendly site with walks connecting to the East Devon Way
With views of Cannington Viaduct and a peaceful spot in the countryside, Cannington Farm ticks all the boxes for a country getaway in East Devon – and be sure to factor in a beach day or two, as it’s a 10-minute drive from Lyme Regis’ beaches and The Cobb harbour (a famed spot, indeed). The site is peaceful and family-friendly, and the priority is to leave no mark on the surrounding countryside and its wildlife, so it’s also small. There are walking footpaths directly from the farm that join up with the 40-mile East Devon Way or footpaths up to the Trinity Hill Nature Reserve. The village of Uplyme is 20 minutes’ walk away from the farm along a quiet country lane for all of your daily needs like grocery shopping at the small shop or a meal out at the pub; there's also a petrol station here. And of course, Lyme Regis is 10 minutes’ drive away from the site for attractions such as sandy and pebble beaches, the famed harbour, a couple of museums, The Town Mill, a brewery, miniature golf and the Ammonite Pavement along the fossil beach (a limestone ledge with extinct molluscs).

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Amazing stay, such a lovely family living on the farm and so so helpful. We aren't the most experienced campers but Chris helped us massively when it was pouring down. Loved being able to play pool and drink tea in the bunk house too, so the site feels great for all weathers. 10 mins by car from the beach.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: This is my ideal campsite - low key, very beautiful peaceful setting, space between pitches. Back to basics but with some great little luxuries (access to the Bunk House Barn with kettle). Good shower. Very friendly helpful host. Good trollies for carting gear from car to pitch. Compost toilets well set up and maintained. I like not allowing cars on the camping field. The charm of this site is it's unspoilt nature, and low number of pitches.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Cannington Farm is a lovely place to camp. It’s peaceful and quiet, there are currently only 12 pitches which are spacious and with plenty of space between each pitch. The scenery is absolutely stunning, with the viaduct at the end of the field and views over the surrounding countryside. The facilities were all spotlessly clean, the compost toilets are lit by solar powered lighting. Before going we weren’t sure about compost toilets - but they were excellent. The shower was lovely with plenty of space to get dry afterwards. Charlotte and Chris were friendly and welcoming. Ensuring we knew where the facilities were and we enjoyed our stay. We hired a fire pit for our last night and enjoyed sitting under the starry sky.

Disliked: Nothing really - hot water for hand washing and instant hot water for washing up would have been nice to have. A kettle is provided to heat water for washing up so not really an issue just a nice to have.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: The whole stay was wonderful. Stunning site, quiet and friendly, no noise after 10pm, facilities are low key - but in the best way - pool table was loved by our teenagers, Chris and Charlotte were absolutely perfect hosts and went above and beyond to make our stay a success

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cannington Farm.

We loved it because not only did it have a fantastic view and was peaceful but the pitches and amount of tents made your stay private and comfortable.

The showers were clean, the compost toilets had everything you need and we’re kept clean and the bunker house was very useful for games for the children, information about our stay and facilities to wash up and fridge freezers to keep our food and freezer packs in.

The hosts were very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be returning

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Really lovely site, peaceful, incredible views of the viaduct and great location 10-15mins drive to the beach. Owners are amazing, so friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back!

Disliked: Very minor but useful to know, seagulls will wake you up early if you leave any bin bags outside!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked: Views. Quiet. Very close to Lyme Regis. Friendly owners. Useful trolleys for transporting equipment. Bunkhouse very convenient for washing up and storing food / freezing ice blocks.

Disliked: Compost toilets dark during the day. Lots of flies around grass cutting heap (next to our pitch).
