Pitches

  • Quiet working farm park 20 minutes' drive from moors and beaches
  • Walking, cycling and birdwatching at Stover Country Park
  • Outdoor heated pool and two fishing lakes
Twelve Oaks Farm Caravan Park is a quiet family-friendly park set on a working farm around 10 minutes' drive from the historic market town of Newton Abbot. It's within walking distance of the Templer Way heritage trail and a huge country park, as well as a flat and family-friendly cycling trail through woodlands and around lakes to Dartmoor National Park. The outdoor pool is always warm as it's heated by the site's biomass heating system, and there's a fishing lake within walking distance of all pitches. The site also has a small play area to keep the kids entertained. The dishwashing and laundry facilities are housed within the award-winning heated toilet and shower block. Twelve Oaks Farm Caravan Park is easily accessible from the main roads that run either side of Newton Abbot, making the park well placed for shopping trips and evenings out to Torbay, Exeter and Plymouth.

Liked: The site was very clean
The shop had a lovely selection
The toilet/showers were very well looked after
The pitches were big and spacious. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Disliked: Not really a dislike. But the swimming pool and other areas were not open yet . Having a young child who likes to keep busy. We did play in the park on site but he got bored.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Best facilities I've seen at a campsite, clean, warm, that goes for toilets, showers & washing up area. Good sized pitches, ours was nice and flat. Lovely cats. Felt it was good value & would go again. Was very quiet but maybe that's the time of year we went I imagine it gets busy in the summer.

Disliked: The weather! Didn't dislike anything about the campsite.

Liked: Such a beautiful friendly campsite. Very clean and really did love the facilities! I always find it hard to find a good camping but this one was probably one of the best I’ve even been to! Wish we could have stayed longer! But will definitely be back. Thank you

Liked: Really lovely place to stay. Quiet at night and a great place to stay to star gaze at night. Toilets and showers are excellent and the meat for sale in the shop is beautiful.
Will definitely stay again. Staff are lovely.

Liked: Large, Nice, well kept touring park. Toilets, showers etc. all clean. Owners and staff friendly and helpful. A small shop that has most necessities that you might need without having leave the site and to go to the shops. The site suited us for position as it is near nice walks and places to visit, also, we have relations very close by.

Disliked: Having to pay for WiFi! There is Wi-Fi on site so why do we have to pay extra? Should be included in the price of the pitch as is the case on most other sites.
Disappointed that the pool was closed. We understand it doesn’t open till the 1st May. We did not see this information when we booked. The weather was so beautiful when we were there that it would certainly have been a bonus. Also, was there cooked food and drink available? We couldn’t see no sign of it being open. There were some building work going on site , we could hear quite a lot of noise, also, a nearby quarry where work starts around 7 am!

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Very clean toilets and showers (there’s a reason they’ve won awards) very clean site.

Disliked: Male owner needs a personality transplant, his wife on the other hand is lovely but sadly his rude remarks were just not what I expected after a five hour journey on top of a days work! I had called a couple of weeks prior to booking as had made a genuine error, his wife answered the phone (and had had surgery so said to deal with it when I arrived as she wasn’t in the office). However, on arrival in second car, he was incredibly abrupt to me… a real shame as I spoke to his wife the next day and she helpfully and politely sorted out the genuine and easy error I had made.
Also, avoid this site if you don’t like cats, I’m not a huge fan and they are EVERYWHERE, one crawled into my friends camper van and they couldn’t get it out so it ended up sleeping in there! One crawled into the toilet when my daughter was going to the loo and one climbed into our car. There’s farm cats and then there’s these cats, it was like a camping version of the Cat Café.

Local attractions

The site's fishing lake is well stocked with carp – just ask for Jim and he'll tell you all their names... Twelve Oaks Farm Caravan Park also lies halfway along the Templer Way Heritage Trail, a walking route that uses a mixture of rights of way, permissive routes and minor roads to link the seaside town of Teignmouth to Haytor on Dartmoor. The Stover Canal, which was once used to transport granite from the moors to the harbour, is also a short stroll from the park. The woodland, grassland, heathland, marsh and lake areas of the 114-acre Stover Country Park, designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest, is half an hour's walk away. The park has a visitor centre, an aerial walkway, a bird hide and picnic areas. Also running through the country park is the Stover Trail – a traffic-free cycling route that connects Newton Abbot to Bovey Tracey, extending towards Lustleigh and Moretonhampstead in Dartmoor National Park.
