  • Rural site two miles from Croyde beach and the South West Coast Path
  • A 15-minute drive from Woolacombe beach and Saunton Sands
  • Communal firepit and flower farm on site; pubs and shop nearby
A day in the surf or strolling along the South West Coast Path, before gathering around the communal firepit – sounds good? Crowborough Farm is a peaceful site within 15 minutes’ drive of the lively Devon beaches, Woolacombe beach and Saunton Sands. On an organic farm, the grass wildflower meadows have views of the sea and Lundy Island, as well as excellent sunsets. It’s a proper back-to-basics set-up, all about being in the countryside. The farm has mobile compost loos made bespoke by local tradesmen using local materials. There is also a shower block with hot water. The communal firepit has wooden benches; you’ll need to bring your own firewood or arrange some with the owners. On site, there is also a sustainable (and colourful) flower farm where you’re welcome to wander around. The farm is a short five-minute drive from Croyde, where you can then walk to the beach or the South West Coast Path towards Baggy Point (popular with climbers). This area of Devon is a World Surfing Reserve, so there are plenty of surf schools a short drive away from the farm too. The local village, Georgeham, is under five minutes’ walk from the farm. It has a village shop with produce such as fresh bread, local eggs, vegetables and dairy, and a post office. There are two pubs in the village (serving excellent food) that often host live bands in the evenings.

What customers say

This campsite offers a tranquil, "back to nature" experience in a beautiful, wild meadow with stunning sea views. Guests loved the clean compost toilets and solar showers with ample hot water. Its convenient location means easy walks to pubs, a village shop, and Putsborough beach. While the wild, eco-friendly ethos is appreciated, a few minor issues arose with confusing online payment and shower intermittency.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Dark skies with Orion sneaking up over the Eastern horizon at 0330h. Quiet, grass, space. Time to reflect, felt like it stood still. Lush.
2 min walk to Georgeham little shop and x2 nice pubs. 1.8 mile walk down hill to Croyde and the beach. Not much pavement but safe if you are sensible - I wouldn’t walk back up in the dark after a couple of drinks! There’s a bus or plenty of parking if you drive down too.

Disliked Nothing. It was heaven. Croyde is lovely too.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Beautiful site just, over a valley just in from the coast. It's called wild camping but there are long drop loos and solar showers which run hot!! Plus clean running water. Great area for walking, swimming, surfing, sailing; two good pubs/places to eat in the village and it's up some narrow roads – so off the beaten track.
