  • Spacious park spread across 500 acres of Kent countryside
  • Five minutes' drive from Paddock Wood station and trains to London
  • Access to the River Medway for canoeing and fishing
Set in 500 acres of open fields and woodland, The Hop Farm is a huge site with plenty for guests to get stuck into. First of all, the river Medway flows through the park – so arrive by canoe if you like, or stick around on site for fishing and kayaking. Second, it has a friendly on-site pub with a nice and familiar menu full of pub classics. What else is there to like? Well, the site has a stunning backdrop of historic oast houses, the largest collection of Victorian-era oast houses in the world. It's easy to get to, being just a five-minute drive from Paddock Wood station and trains to London. Local shops and amenities are five minutes away by car too. Kent (aka The Garden of England) has many beaches, historic towns, forests, castles and stately homes (and gardens). The very scenic town of Royal Tunbridge Wells is 15 minutes' drive away from The Hop Farm. Tonbridge, a market town with a castle, shops and restaurants, is also 15 minutes away. The on-site facilities include a modern shower and toilet block. Dogs are welcome on site for an additional fee.

Liked: Toilets were cleaned regularly throughout the day and we're of a very good standard. There were lots of spaces between tents. The owners were friendly, and the prices were lower than their competitors. There were lots of walks nearby.

From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay here and that you will visit again.
We were waiting for the water samples to come back clear to be able to open the larger block, unfortunately it took longer than expected.
We look forward to your next visit.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: The area was well lit at night.
Water and electric very close to the pitch.
Plenty of toilets and showers which were regularly cleaned.

Disliked: Was unaware of the hop farm itself being closed.
Fairly close to the bypass which some vehicles seemed to use it like a race track so was noisy at times.

From the manager: Thank you for choosing to stay with us and that you enjoyed yourselves.
When you book via pitch-up under the "Please note" section on the front page it says the visitor attraction/children rides are closed for refurbishment, this can be easily missed though.
We look forward to seeing you again.

Powered grass campsite

Liked: Super friendly staff

Amazing site – great walks

Good size pitches

Loads of space for kids to play and walk dogs

Whole site is kept clean and tidy

Toilets kept clean and tidy at all times

Lovely little stream

Our grandson loved walking in the woods

Nice little shop – could do with a bit more practical stock.

We enjoyed it so much we stayed another day.

Disliked: There is no separate grey waste disposal site. Needs a ramp put in to get waste barrel up to chemical waste disposal

Toilets/shower room are freezing cold - we did go in early April

Need lighting near the bridges over to the toilets.

There is NO internet which in this day and age there should be, even if you have to pay a minimal fee for it

Local attractions

Kent has 350 miles of coastline, with watersports and those famous white cliffs at Dover. Whitstable and Herne Bay are popular with oyster eaters, anglers and jetskiers. There are umpteen options for families in the area including play centres, farms, horse riding and days out. Try Howletts Wild Animal Park in Canterbury, home to gorillas and operating experiences for visitors such as junior ranger days. Penshurst Place and Gardens has historical re-enactments, children’s trails, an adventure playground and special events during the school holidays. Both Leeds Castle at Maidstone and Hever Castle near Edenbridge are family-friendly and packed with activities and events. There’s a Go Ape! at Leeds Castle as well as two mazes, boat trips, falconry displays, underground grotto and the Knights' Realm Playground, a scale model of the castle (and a golf course and golf instruction for the grownups). Hever, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, has a yew maze and water maze, award-winning gardens and a topiary. Back with the big folk, the old market towns of Tonbridge, Maidstone, Sevenoaks and Tonbridge Wells are close by for shopping and sightseeing. Bluewater shopping centre is in Greenhithe (rival Lakewater is just over the Essex border at West Thurrock).
