  • Wide open dark sky, great for stargazing or watching the sunrise
If you’ve always fancied discovering the historic sights in 1066 Country, now’s your chance. Base yourself in the pre-erected bell tents at Flower Meadow Glamping, near Battle in East Sussex, and you’ll be right among ruined castles, battlefields and ancient towns. This is a compact site set in hay fields down a rural lane, with plenty of livestock including horses (not available for riding), sheep, a blind goose and a few hens – the latter often provide fresh eggs for breakfast fry ups. The owners can also supply sausages, beef and lamb burgers from a local farmer for your barbecue. Don’t want to cook? Stroll to the pub or stock up on snacks at the village shop in Ninfield (10 minutes’ walk). Back on site, no-frills facilities include a shared portable toilet, gas-fired shower and an outside kitchen with a sink and gas hob. Firepits and barbecues are available (along with logs and charcoal) for a small extra charge. There are solar lights around the site and fairy lights in the tent, but please note, there is no wifi or electricity on site, so bring a decent torch with you (and warn any teens you may be bringing…). A few house rules: as there are animals around, dogs are not allowed. Parking is not permitted next to the tents, but there’s a car park at the lower end of the camping field. And as hay will be cut in the summer, please keep to the mown paths so it doesn’t get flattened before harvest.

Daisy bell tent (basic)

Liked: "The owners were very nice and helpful. We really liked the friendly couple who were there."

Disliked: Its not worth the value, no great view, and not comfortable air beds.
We have done plenty of glamping but this one would get the lowest among others.
Its very clean but there are mannnnnnnny rules, from 6 min max shower to no bbq if its windy.

There are almost nothing in tent except for air bed mattresses and a table, plenty of spiders inside and there was not much to see around by walk

Liked: I have just stayed here for 2 nights in the bell tent with my mum and two children 5 and 8 and we absolutely loved it the owners were lovely very welcoming and helpful, the bell tent was great and all the facilities was very clean loved the camping kitchen, my children especially loved waking up to the horses and playing on the swings they had there, for our first time glamping it was wonderful, it is close to a few beaches and places to go aswell so worked out great, we will definitely be going back there again. 😁

Daisy bell tent (basic)

Liked: Lovely little site with great accommodation. Owners Pete and Carol couldn’t have been more accommodating- we were offered help with luggage to the bell tent and back, local information including tide times for the closest beach & just made to feel very welcome. The accommodation was clean, facilities great (gas shower, clean toilet and a really nice kitchen area including a kettle. There were also pretty hanging baskets) and the surroundings were just lovely. I highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be back.

From the manager: So glad you enjoyed your stay, having time to sit quietly and read as the children made friends playing in the trees.

Liked: The easiness of it all, and would recommend for families

Disliked: The portoloo - would be fab if there was a compost toilet instead?
