  • Family-sized bell tents at a peaceful Lancashire pop-up glamping site
  • Southport and Formby beaches half an hour's drive away
  • Firepit, woodburning stove and kitchenette for each tent
Get yourselves a lovely slice of rural Lancashire life at Puddleduck Glamping, a pop-up glamping site in the little village of Much Hoole, around 20 minutes’ drive from the centre of Preston. There are only a few bell tents set up at this sizeable site, so you should have plenty of space in which to relax, or let the kids and dogs have a good run around. There are pretty countryside views all around, and easy access to footpaths nearby for walks to local villages. Also within a few minutes’ walk are a farm shop, a fishery and a pump cycle track, so that’s several handy things you won’t need to get in the car for. The farm shop (again, just a short walk away) is a useful place for supplies – either for your kitchenette (which has a gas hob, kettle, toaster and various utensils) or for an evening by the firepit out in your private area. If you’d like to expand your cooking adventures, you’ll have the option to hire a pizza oven for your stay too (and if you’d rather someone else did the cooking, there are several cafés and restaurants five minutes’ drive away in Longton). The bell tents at this site are family-friendly, sleeping up to two adults and three kids in a double bed and three optional single camp beds (bed linen provided for the double bed, but you’ll need to bring your own sleeping bags/duvets, etc, for the camp beds). There’s also a woodburning stove in each tent, with kindling and logs for this and the firepit available to buy on site. High-quality toilets and showers are in a shared facility close to your tent.

Liked Great night away. Kids loved it. Very peaceful.

Disliked It was a cold night and a king size duvet on the double bed would have meant a bit more warmth. The rooster wake-up call was quite early!

Liked We stayed for 1 night in August and what a delight it was! We were met by James, the owner, who was extremely helpful and welcoming. The site was perfect as it only has 3 bell tents. There is everything you could need to help make your stay as easy and relaxing as possible. We all loved the chickens and gorgeous friendly dog that live on the site. It had lots of garden toys/games for the kids to use. The kitchen area was extremely well equipped, they thought of everything, and the bathroom was the nicest campsite bathroom we have ever seen!
We really can’t fault this site and will definitely return. Thank you for such a gorgeous break.

Liked We had a fabulous relaxing weekend at Puddleduck. The bell tent was very comfortable and cosy. The site was beautiful, in a lovely location and very well set up. We had everything we needed. It is a great place for children, our daughter loved the play area and feeding the chickens. Thank you James and family for everything, we will definitely be back again!

Cotton-tail bell tent (two person)

Liked My partner and I have had a truly wonderful weekend away at Puddleduck Glamping for his birthday, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The site is perfect - comfortable, stylish, extremely well-equipped bell tents, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated bathroom and communal outdoor kitchen/dining area. The vibe is very friendly and the site itself is spacious with lovely views in a quiet and peaceful location. We especially loved the free range chickens, dog, and children! It was a great little community on site. Every little thing had been thought of, but the fire pit, barbecue, and wonderful edition of the pizza oven made our stay all that more special. The stand-out for us though was the hospitality - warm, welcoming hosts who couldn’t do enough for you. We didn’t want to leave and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Bell tent (five person)

Liked For our First Glamping experience, I picked Puddleduck due to the close proximity to us.
When we got there, we were greeted by James and shown around the camping area. It was absolutely beautiful! Very clean, well presented, the bathroom facilities were very new, modern and well kept. With gorgeous products available to use. There was a little kitchen area with everything you could need to heat food and a fridge to store fresh items. We purchased a massive wheelbarrow full of wood for our log burner and stove heater inside the tent.

The tent itself was gorgeous!!! With a big comfy double bed, and 3 sleeping cubes which I put together for my 2 little boys to make a big sleeping area for them.

We had the best time, bbq, log fire, enjoyed the play area and then the fun of camping in our quirky tent.

We will definitely be booking again.

Thank you James and Carly for having us!

Liked What a great place to go glamping! The hosts were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The site was well equipped and had everything we needed. The place was clean and well presented and the kids had an amazing time. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back.

We were greeted warmly and we were given instructions on setting up. Anything we forgot to bring was already there. So if you're not usually a camping person this is the place for you. The kids were invited to use a bouncy castle that was set up. We couldn't have had a nicer time. I have already recommended to friends with young families.

Definitely bring some repellent for the horse flies, but even with that we will be back.

Local attractions

If you’re keen to soak up as much rural fresh air as you can, perhaps you’d like to spend an afternoon by the lake at Martin Hall Fishery (10 minutes’ walk) or take a good stroll around Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve (five minutes’ drive). There’s lots of good wildlife to see at the Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary (10 minutes), too. Or how about taking in a bit of sea air for a change? The beaches of Southport and Formby are both about half an hour’s drive away – head to the former for traditional seaside attractions and the latter to see if you can spot red squirrels in the coastal nature reserve. Beyond all that, there’s plenty more – maybe a stroll around the Tudor house and grounds of Rufford Old Hall (15 minutes), birdwatching at WWT Martin Mere (15 minutes), a gin tour at Brindle Distillery (25 minutes) or some time spent admiring the shiny exhibits of The British Commercial Vehicle Museum (20 minutes)?
