Lovely place
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Location, facilities, friendly staff
Disliked A little too busy for us this time. We have visited previously and it was probably just the time of year. We will just book at a different time when returning

Liked Really beautiful site, load of room and really friendly.
Would definitely recommend and have no doubt we will be back!
Powered grass campsite
Liked The staff were amazing and made us feel very welcome. They were well informed of local issues with roadworks and also where to eat.
Recognised it being our first time but wasn't patronising with information. We loved our stay!
Great facilities too!
Great facilities
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Good facilties as is to be expected for the price. Showers and toilets where great, clean, spacious and warm. The auto-stop on the shower was bit of a p**s take, turns itself off every 3-5 seconds! Nothing a strategically placed zip tie wouldn't solve, tho.
I like the idea of having a kitchen open to campers, used the kettle to pre-boil my water and save on camping gas.
My daughter loved the miniature ponies.
There is a raw milk centre machine close by, which is fantastic.
Disliked Not the campsite's fault at all - but because there are a lot of electric pitches, it tends to attract a larger number of motorhome and caravan campers. I think I was the only tent camper on site.
As I was setting up my pitch, a family in a VW camper van next door was watching us out their window the whole time - bit weird but not an issue, I guess they're just bored and wanted something to look at out the window. I just pitched our tent with the opening facing away from them.
However, in the morning, a totally different motorhome camper groupsopposite my pitch were all sitting in a U shape facing my pitch, watching as I dismantled my tent, cooked breakfast, and tidied up etc - no privacy was afforded at all, they even were passing comments (nothing negative) about our setup. We ere being watched the large group of middle-aged motorhome campers the entire morning, from the moment we left the tent to the moment we left. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I suppose there is no rule against just sitting around spectating and commenting on another family's camping trip, but not something I signed up for, or would choose to experience again.
I would go again in a heartbeat, but I would try to separate myself from the non-tent campers as it was a bit of a weird experience, and not something I expected.
Lovely site with level pitches…spot on
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Flat ground, arrival help, onsite cafe and warm kitchen area. Close proximity to small village with amazing chippy & shop. We didn’t stay whole night as had to return for family issues at home. We will be back.

Liked Literally everything was amazing. The site itself was awesome, the onsite cafe was fabulous. Loads of stuff for the kids to do. And the toilets/showers were absolutely perfect. Totally clean and well stocked
Disliked Nothing, it was brilliant

Powered grass campsite
Liked Great location with far reaching views. Lovely friendly campsite with very nice and quirky toilet/shower block. Will definitely be back.
A potentially nice site, but needs a member of staff to be on hand.
Powered grass campsite
Liked The welcome, public facilities quirky but good. Kitchen area useful.
Disliked Quite noisy at night, although rules stated quiet after 10pm. On our first night(of 4), there was a lot of loud talking until after 11.30.
On the second night there was a private function in a nearby village- not the campsite’s fault- which didn’t finish until 1.45am.
On the third night there seemed to be two very late arrivals- one after 10.45 and another well after 11. There was then quite a lot of banging of car doors and someone speaking on a phone after midnight.
On the fourth night it was more peaceful, except that it was extremely windy, again beyond the control of the campsite managers!
We left rather tired….
There seemed to be no one in the morning, or at anytime, after 2pm on Sunday, to speak to at reception. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and left on Tuesday.
From the manager: We don’t allow music after 10 and ask that people be respectful of others guests whilst chatting - sadly we can’t walk around banging a cup and saying lights out…..
But we allways say if anyone is being a little to chatty and keeping others awake, please speak to them and if the issue continues contact the owners and we will happily pop over.
But please keep in mind we are usually up and about ourselves preparing for the day, in the cafe and usually up at 6 am so the last thing we want it to have to patrol the site at 11pm.
The noise levels from the other event in the next village was an absolute nightmare, as you kindly said out of our control.
Yes the cafe is closed on a Monday and Tuesday as staff need time off, only my self the owner is on site because I like here. Also this is also as much as possible my day off ! But I’m all ways a phone call or a ring door bell away if guests need anything.
There’s still toilets to clean, grass to cut and bins to empty on a Monday and Tuesday.
Thanks for your feedback but 7/10 to us is a little bit of an insult, given over the weekend especially dealing with the noise issue off site on Sat ( and other issues ) I didn’t get to sleep till 4 am doing my darn best to make sure guests were happy, and then up again at 6 to start in the reception / cafe
