  • Quiet family-run site less than three miles from Flamingo Land
  • Fishing available in the bordering river
  • Fifteen minutes' walk from Pickering town centre
Sssh… Ingledene Beckside Campsite is a gloriously quiet site. Which is just as well considering that it's only a few miles from Flamingo Land, as you might need a peaceful place to pitch up afterwards… Ingledene is set down a quiet lane and surrounded by fields on the bank of Pickering Beck, but is also in an excellent locale for conveniences and to see some of the best spots of North Yorkshire: Dalby Forest is nearby, Scarborough is about 15 miles away and trips on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway are within half a mile. Restaurants, pubs and the wine bar of old market town Pickering are 15 minutes' walk away. Ingledene Beckside's pitching area is in a grassed paddock with good parking space, next to a river that guests can fish in (you'll need to bring your rod licence). The site also has a toilet and shower block with water and grey water and chemical toilet disposal. This is a peaceful site, so music isn't permitted on site and guests are asked to start quieting down by around 10.30pm at night; quiet hours are in force after 11pm.

Liked Becksite campsite review

Had 9 nights here, a great welcome explaining the site to me and how to get into town centre. The owners run the site very well, I didn’t have any issues.

The site is fairly small, but I preferred it that way, which was one of the reasons why I booked.

The location is quiet and extremely handy for Pickering and transport services. There is a Lidl & co-op about 5-7 minute walk away. Pickering has a Castle, North Yorkshire railway station, a high street, which shops include pubs bakers chemists and gifts shops.

Plot are hardstanding and grass with electric though some grass pitches are non electric.

2 unisex showers (one with toilet), 2 male toilets

My only gripe would be there was no waste bins at the washing up points, so make sure you scrape everything off prior to doing washing up.

If ever come to the Moors again I would certainly stay here again.

Liked Friendly greeting from owner, located a very short flat walk in to town, well managed grassed areas with free WiFi available. Clean toilets & shower facilities.
Some pitches very slightly sloped but certainly not excessive and certainly not a problem, just remember your levelling chocks.
Nice and quiet in the evenings with very little infrequent traffic transiting access road.

Local attractions

Pick some time in Pickering to kick off your holiday activities or to potter round its popular attractions like Pickering Castle, social history showcase Beck Isle Museum and the town's twelfth-century parish church. Its swimming pool is five minutes' walk from Ingledene Beckside Campsite. Pickering is also the terminus for the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which steams through 18 miles of moorland on its route to Whitby (where you should plan to spend at least an afternoon exploring). Lots of walking and biking trails start close to the site, including loads in Dalby Forest where there's also a Go Ape for tree-swingers, and in the North York Moors National Park immediately to the north. Other popular places to see nearby are Eden Camp, recreating the sights and sounds of World War II; seaside town Scarborough and its surrounds of Filey and Bridlington; and a day in grand old York.
