  • 300 metres from UNESCO World Heritage Site monasteries
You'll probably have heard of La Rioja… for verily it's the area of northern Spain famed for the wine of its three regions. But very much also worth a mention in the area are the Sierra de la Demanda, the Iberian Peninsula mountain range that surrounds quiet countryside site Camping Berceo, and the Cárdenas river that flows alongside it, and the splendid vineyard-filled landscape all around… You'll likely like it. This is a peaceful site in peaceful and mountainous Spanish countryside, about a 20-minute walk from the restaurants, shops and bars of its local village. It has an outdoor seasonal pool with plenty of room around it to in which to relax and sunbathe, and a restaurant and bar serving a wide range of local cuisine. The restaurant terrace overlooks the pool and the bar has free wifi. Camping Berceo also has a barbecue area, a playground and a small shop for basic supplies. Amenities include a main loo and shower block with facilities for disabled guests, a laundry area and coin-operated washing machines and dryers.

Liked: The site is lovely, quiet, pretty, well kept, good size pitches with electric and water on the pitch. The facilities are good and clean.

Disliked: Sadly the restaurant lets it down.
The waitress put our cutlery on the table holding the knife’s by the blades and the forks by the tinges.
We had pizza, which weren’t the best, but we spoke to the owner who was keen to know and said they will make changes so hopefully better in the future.

From the manager: Hi friends!
Thank you very much for your comment but your experience in the restaurant is not about our restaurant, it must be a mistake. We do not have pizzas and our waiter is a man, not a woman.
Thank you!

Liked: What a beautifully situated site. In the heart of La Rioja surrounded by lush pastures and wooden hills and snowy mountains. We received a warm welcome in contrast to the chilly weather and were glad of a great home cooked meal in the cosy restaurant as the heavens opened. Easy stroll up to the monasteries of Yuso and Suso and great place to visit local vineyards. We will be back one day to spend more time walking in those hills. The facilities were excellent with plenty of hot water and good pitches.

Liked: The person on reception, Alejandro, was super friendly and spoke great English, which made things easy. The facilities were spotless and well-kept and the pitches were a good size with hedges for privacy. Wifi was brilliant, just had to ask reception for the code.

Disliked: Very difficult to manoeuvre on to the pitches due to the size of road. Had to try 3 different pitches as they were all difficult to reverse on to. Would recommend a motor mover if coming here. Lots of permanent caravans.

Liked: Great site, nice and quiet. Facilities were really good and clean. Staff were lovely and the bar was a good spot for a coffee in the sunshine. Pitches were a good size and everyone in the more permanent pitches were very friendly. Beautiful walk to the 2 nearby monasteries.

Disliked: Not a dislike but not really anywhere to eat or drink close by when we went. The onsite restaurant was only open at weekends (Middle of September) Not a problem for us but if you are relying on it bear it in mind. Also a lot more expensive than anywhere else we have stayed but still lovely.
