If you were seeking a serenely peaceful Spanish site in a forest setting, within easy reach of natural attractions such as the Black Lagoon and the Cañón del Río Lobos Natural Park…? And in a province where tourist hordes are considerably fewer than elsewhere around… adventurers (and pursuers of blessed peace and blessed space), Camping Fuente del Botón is the one for you. This quiet place is in Castile and León’s Soria province, the least populous in all of Spain. It's among mountains and forests, in pine groves between the Urbión mountain range to the north, Nafria to the south and Cabrejas to the east: all of which say splendid outdoor days. A short trip in the car leads to yet more spectacular scenic and outdoor activity spots such as the Natural Monument of Fuentona (within half an hour, and a must-see), the legendary Urbión Black Lagoon (55 minutes, ditto) and the many activities and more splendid surrounds of the Cañón del Río Lobos Natural Park, reachable in 10 minutes. Camping Fuente del Botón is a few minutes’ walk from the town of Navaleno and opposite a reception area with an outdoor pool including a waterslide, as well as a playground, barbecues and a bar-restaurant.

Liked: La atención del personal encargado ha sido muy buena. Precio asequible con acceso fácil en una buena ubicación. Fuentes de agua potable en varias ubicaciones y electricidad en todas las parcelas. La piscina está incluida en el precio.

Disliked: Entre las parcelas 10 y 16 (al menos) se aprecia casi constantemente un olor nauseabundo a alcantarilla que a veces puede resultar muy molesto, el mismo olor que sobretodo notas en los baños/duchas del fondo. Además deberían reformarse, su estado no es el mejor, no hay sitio donde dejar tus cosas si te duchas, son antiguos, etc.
Las parcelas son justas en anchura, no están bien delimitadas y te encuentras campistas que se cogen más espacio del que les corresponde.
La carretera está al lado del camping y por las noches se oyen mucho los camiones, coches y motos.

Liked: El camping está en un entorno precioso, con muchas opciones para caminar y hacer rutas de bici de montaña.
Las instalaciones, con una pedazo piscina al lado están fenomenal.
Los baños y duchas limpios y adecuados, las parcelas muy bien de tamaño y con su enchufe de 10A todas.

Disliked: La Wifi no llega a las parcelas, esto según se mire, puede ser un inconveniente o una ventaja para evitar que los niños se enganchen :)
Al estar cerca de la carretera con poco tráfico los camiones se oyen por la noche, por poner un pequeño pero.

Liked: Camping tranquilo y silencioso, con mucha sombra y parcelas amplias

Disliked: en los baños del fondo faltaba mantenimiento y aunque había un cartel que indicaba claramente que no tenían agua caliente, por ejemplo, no había papel higiénico.

From the manager: Gracias Noemí por tu comentario. Lo tendremos muy en cuenta.

Sólo por aclarar, existen dos bloques de baños. En uno de ellos hay agua caliente las 24h y el otro está de apoyo para los momentos de mayor afluencia. Que no haya agua caliente en el bloque de apoyo es una decisión de sostenibilidad porque la instalación es muy poco eficiente. En el futuro esperamos poder apoyar este bloque de baños con un sistema independiente.

En cuanto al papel higiénico, lo sentimos mucho. Llevamos desde el 24 de junio esperando los soportes de papel. Por un problema de stock del proveedor sólo nos llegaron suficientes como para atender las necesidades del bloque principal. Según las previsiones, esta semana estará solventado. Hemos dejados rollos sueltos pero estos se acaban antes o desaparecen fácilmente.

Nuestra intención es ir mejorando las instalaciones cada año.

Local attractions

Camping Fuente del Botón's local village is Navaleno, within 10 kilometres of Casarejos and San Leonardo de Yague. It's within easy day trip distance of several natural sites, and its surrounding province of Soria is mostly within the area of the mountainous Sistema Ibérico. The Cañón del Río Lobos Natural Park along the canyon of the Lobos river is a top local option for hikes and walks among spectacular Spanish scenery, such as the trail along the river to the Chapel of San Bartolomé, or ambling around to spot its many species of wildlife: griffin and Egyptian vultures, golden eagles, snakes, deer, wild boar and almost a hundred species of butterflies and moths all have their homes here. The park visitor centre is in the old mill house at Ucero. Horse riding through the pine forests of the Soria province is another popular local option, taking trails along the canyon of the Lobos river as well as along the Black Lagoon.
