  • Family-friendly site by the beach in Porto Potenza Picena
  • Easy access from the A14 main road and train station
  • Swimming pool, café-bar, beach volleyball and kids' club
Basing your break around beach days? Bag a berth at Camping Village Costa Verde for easy seaside stays – this nifty location is separated from the sands only by a short stroll on a quiet footpath (mighty handy for families who plan much trotting back and forth). And a splendid sandy spot it is too, with serviced and free areas, a bar and restaurant for snacks and drinks, and lifeguards keeping watch for straying swimmers. If you fancy stretching your legs a little, it’ll take you 10 minutes or so to amble along the beach to the main resort area of Porto Potenza Picena for more shops, bars and restaurants (and a train station should you be planning greater escapes). Back at base between beach times there’s more supervised swimming at the outdoor pool, which also has a waterslide for active nippers and plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas for sunbathers and supervising grownups. Away from the water there’s more activity to be had at the playground and beach volleyball court, or with the assorted antics arranged by site staff through the summer. Eats can be sorted here as you wish – pick up snacks at the poolside café, fire up a barbie or saunter up to town for meals at one of the beachside restaurants.

Liked: The park itself was beautiful. The restaurant over the road, Zolfo, was even better.

Disliked: When filling out the booking we stated we were with a 10 month old baby. They put us 5meters from a party that lasted until 11.30pm. My baby cried and cried for hours and was unable to settle due to the noise.
When I say we were close, we felt like we were on top of the party. It was literally the other side of the fence. We could hear every word spoken and feel the beat of the music. It was VERY loud! My husband went to speak to the staff to ask them what can be done and they said no manager was on site. I then went to speak to them all in the while my baby was crying and crying. I was told that this was common in Italy and we had to deal with it. However no other site we have been too has had this issue. My baby eventually cried herself to sleep while being extremely hot. We tried everything to keep out baby cool in such warm weather but the continued noise and continued crying due to the noise just caused her to be hotter and hotter. As a 10 month old prone to overheating this was a major concern for us. But not to the staff. They did not care.
There is no facility for babies. We visited lots of places in Italy while we were travelling and this is the first site we have had no washing facilities. Also to add to this, we had to pay to use the showers. You pay 50 cents to use the showers for 1.5 minute (this was NOT stated on their booking websites). Now with a baby. This is near impossible. The stress of having to try clean yourself AND a 10 month old baby covered in sun cream and sand was ridiculous. My baby was crying the whole time because I had to rush. Also they were not clean. I checked atleast 4 showers before I found one that was clean enough to use. For myself I would have dealt with this but not with a 10 month old baby. It was disgusting.
One more thing to point out is the fact their "disabled toilet" was up a step. Thankfully we didn't need to use this but if you are disabled this place is most certainly not welcoming of that.
To add to this you can't use the swimming pool unless you have a swimming hat. Which is an ADDED EXTRA that you purchase from reception.
Now for a family already paying for a pitch (not cheap) and having to pay for shower use, having to pay for a swimming hat to use the swimming pool to cool off in 30°+ heat is beyond ridiculous.
There is also no bins in the toilet and if you are a woman who is currently on her menstrual cycle you have to carry your used sanitary items until you find a bin. Extremely unhygienic.
Staff were not helpful and not friendly. They did not care about our situation and we had a very terrible experience. Other campsites have relocated us if the noise has been too much for the baby.
As I say we have travelled the width and length of Italy and this is the first place we have had a bad experience. We are very reasonable people but when it is one thing after another, it just gets too much.
The only plus side of this "experience" the restaurant over the road 'Zolfo' was absolutely delicious

Local attractions

This is a fab stretch of coastline, so it's a good idea to expand your horizons beyond the nearest beach. Pack your kit for a day in the resort of Portonovo, 45 minutes’ drive away, or seek out the less developed Sassi Neri beach, accessible only with a short hike through the forest. Another gorgeous cove that’s worth a visit is Due Sorelle, where two twin rocks rise from the clear sea next to a white pebbly beach. You can’t get to this secluded spot from the mainland so head up to the harbour at Numana, half an hour away, to board a boat for the ride along the coast. Break away from the beach for a bit for historic wanderings around Recanati, including the former home of poet Giacomo Leopardi, or to head inland for an hour for stalactite and stalagmite spotting at the Frasassi Caves. Horse riding, paragliding and go-karting can also be organised locally.
