If lively holidays in stunning locations are on your wishlist, turn your attention immediately to Camping Tahiti. The family-friendly site on the outskirts of Ferrara province’s Lido delle Nazioni – a small resort town on the Adriatic Coast – has absolutely tons to keep guests busy. Guests are encouraged to spend days splashing about in one (or all) of the three pools, entertaining younger kids at the pirate-themed spray park, staying fit with football, tennis, archery and volleyball, or signing up for guided biking or Nordic walking excursions. Explores of the area around the site can also be had by renting one of the site’s bikes. Those after a more peaceful stay might prefer to head seaward in the morning, clambering aboard the little blue train for the five-minute journey to the site's private beach. (The sands are less than a kilometre from base, if walking or biking is preferable.) Not much of a fan of sandy swimsuits? Opt instead to pass time with massages, thermal treatments, mani-pedis or mud baths in the on-site spa, or sign up for a class at the pottery ‘laboratory’. When hunger strikes, guests are never far from food: local eats can be had at the snack bars by the pools, the bar-restaurant at the beach, or the on-site restaurant, each of which has the region’s traditional flatbread – piadina romagnola – available to try. Prefer to eat in privacy? The site’s BoraBora Café has a takeaway menu that should satisfy.

Local attractions

In the UNESCO World Heritage Site and biosphere reserve of Po Delta Park, this site is well placed for scenic, historical and nature-filled explores, starting along the canals of Comacchio (15 minutes’ drive). The pretty town is on the banks of a lagoon that’s a prime spot for birdwatching, so keep eyes peeled for oystercatchers, terns, spoonbills and herons. Historical explores begin handily close to home base too, at the Romanesque Pomposa Abbey, a former Benedictine monastery 15 minutes from the site. At the turn of the first millennium AD, the stunning building housed one of the most extensive libraries of the time. Now, guests can tour the complex and visit the on-site museum. Fancy spending a day or so wandering city streets, exploring museums and shopping? The site is about 45 minutes from the cities of Ravenna and Ferrara. Visit the former to see famed mosaics and tour spectacular churches, or the latter to traipse about the impressive Este Castle. While there’s lots at the site to entertain guests of all ages, kids might still appreciate a trip to one of Italy’s largest theme parks, Mirabilandia (50 minutes), and tickets can be bought at concession price from the Camping Tahiti reception.

Liked: Tisztaság, áram és vízellátás rendben volt. Folyamatos animációs programok gyerekeknek, nagy játszótér. Mindenki beszél angolul, németül kevésbé.

Disliked: Sajnos olyan camping hely, amit a Pitchup leírt, olyan nem létezik, de mindent megtett a személyzet, hogy egy hasonlót tudjanak biztosítani. Gyerek medence vize is hideg volt, az lehetett volna langyosabb, így a fázós gyerekek egyáltalán nem tudtak vízbe menni. Tenger vize sajnos hordalékos, koszos volt.
