  • Friendly-family Brittany park a short walk from the beach
  • Spectacular waterpark with indoor and outdoor pools
  • Boules, fitness centre and summer entertainment
That's one spectacular waterpark… The team at Brittany's Camping Le Moténo all aim to give guests a smashing stay on this big and friendly family site between Lorient and Carnac, whether in or out of the water, getting active or getting in some serious relaxing. Camping Le Moténo is near the Morbihan town of Plouhinec, 35 minutes' drive from Lorient and a few hundred metres (about 10 minutes' walk) from the beach. If you're staying around on site for the day, make for the pools first, one indoors and one outdoors; both are of a good size to keep everyone occupied without overcrowding. Sun loungers and deckchairs are set around outside if you fancy a sunbathing session or a sunny snooze. Aqua gym activities are held in the indoor pool in high season, part of a packed programme of summer entertainment that also includes a kids' club, aerobics and family evenings like lotto and comedy nights, disco evenings and themed food nights. To keep you still busier, the site also has a boules green, a fitness centre, a multisports field and a play area. There's also a bar, and for your meals, the site has a snack bar every day in July and August, as well as a grocery shop selling bread and pastries.

Local attractions

There's stacks to do within a short drive of this southern Brittany setting, such as family days out at award-winning and lifeguarded Kervegant beach, 10 minutes' walk away, or traversing the famed coastline of the Quiberon peninsula, with its Côte Sauvage to the west and surfing in the windy waters to its north. About 10 minutes' drive will take you to the Étel river, once one of the biggest tuna fishing centres in France, and now home to the Musée des Thonniers, telling the fishy tale of the industry as well as the boats that went down in this perilous stretch of water. The river's now mostly famed for its oyster farming: farm visits are available (ask at the tourist office in Lorient) and plenty of restaurants line the riverside if you want to sample them for yourself. The star-shaped fort of Port-Louis is a famed sight in the area, with spectacular views over the coastline and nearby Lorient from its ramparts. Also recommended by the Camping Le Moténo team are strolls around the harbour of Saint-Goustan, the old fishing port on the Auray river; a trip to the submarine base at Lorient; taking a boat out to Belle-Ile and Ile de Groix, or marvelling at the famed megaliths of Carnac, all within easy driving distance.
