  • Family-friendly site in a valley beside the Nantes-Brest Canal
  • A kilometre from Chateaulin on the famed Crozon peninsula
  • Garden and shop; fresh bread, croissants and eggs sold in high season
Frolic in Finistère at Camping La Pointe, a site that sits pretty in a small valley with spectacular views. You can soak up the vistas here from a very pleasant position indeed: the park has a handsome garden for guests’ use – with chickens roaming freely – and is bordered by woods with red squirrels, deer and tawny owls hiding among the trees. Cute critters spotted, head back to the park for amenities including a small shop selling essentials as well as fresh bread and croissants and an indoor communal area with a library and table tennis. The shower and toilet blocks are suitable for disabled guests. Brittany’s Nantes-Brest Canal runs opposite the entrance to the site, providing a great space for salmon fishing, waterside walks, cycling tours and canoeing trips. Being on the outskirts of Chateaulin and at the edge of the famed Crozon peninsula, home to craggy coastlines and teeny fishing towns, it’s also well placed for days out among historic villages and on white sandy beaches. The nearest town, Saint-Coulitz, is two kilometres away and Chateaulin is less than a five-minute drive away for your supermarket needs. Further afield, Quimper’s well-preserved old town is 25 minutes to the south.

Cyclist/Rambler power optional grass tent site

Liked It's a lovely, friendly, well maintained campsite. Quiet with clean showers, the option for croissants, & crepes twice a week. It seems to attract really friendly campers too.

Its the second time I've been there & I've really enjoyed it both times.

Power optional grass site (maximum 7 metres)

Liked This was our first time camping in France and we couldn’t have wished for a better experience. Quiet and well organised site, friendly owners and fellow campers, private pitch in shady corner, excellent shower block facilities, fresh pastries and bread to order for breakfast, supermarket in proximity. Lots to see and do locally. Highly recommend! Loved it.

Power optional grass site (maximum 7 metres)

Liked Peaceful site. Easy walking distance to town. Daily bread delivery including amazing pain au raisin. English speaking owners who were friendly and helpful. Very clean facilities and immaculately kept site. Ideal location to get to the coast and local attractions. Wifi in bar area close to reception.

Disliked Water in showers & wash up area was a bit cool for the time of year - possibly ok in summer.

Power optional grass site (maximum 7 metres)

Liked We booked for 2 nights but stayed for 6 nights due to what an incredibly wonderful site this is. Vikki and her husband who run the site were so friendly and welcoming. The site is beautiful. Set in a picturesque Wooded area. The site is so clean, the shower/toilet block spotless and the grass pitches excellently maintained. If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet, relaxing site well this is the place for you. Fantastic location alongside the River with a 15 mins walk into Chateaulin which is a typically delightful French town. Will definitely stay again. Our enormous thanks to Vikki for making our week in Brittany so welcoming and enjoyable. Best wishes for the forthcoming season. Laurence and Tracey

Local attractions

Pleyben, with its famed 16th-century parish church, is 15 minutes’ drive from the site, while medieval meandering can be had in Locronan within 20 minutes, in a small town founded by an Irish missionary. Another lovely locale for a wander is the port town of Douarnenez, 30 minutes away; settle down here at one of the coffee shops to spy boats toing and froing from one of the four harbours. The port museum is the place to inspect similar vessels inside a wet dock created to simulate life at sea. Alternatively, cross the water – without setting foot on a ship – to Tristan Island just off Douarnenez’s coast. This place of nature with a ruined fort is reachable only at low tide: sign up for a trip at the tourist office and its guides will make sure you get back to the mainland safe and sound. To take to the ocean for real, make your way to Kervel (25 minutes away) or journey a further 15 to Plage des Sables Blancs for white sands, beach volleyball and watersports rentals. If built-up beaches aren’t your bag, the wilder Saint-Jean is a kilometre away along the coastal path.
