  • Luxurious holiday park in the grounds of a historic estate near Belvès
  • Five minutes' drive from the Dordogne river for walks and canoeing
  • Lots of leisure facilities including waterpark and sports courts
Well now, isn’t this a rather classy joint? If you’re on the search for a posh pad for your holiday, take a look at RCN Le Moulin de la Pique, near Belvès in the Dordogne – here guests can fulfil fantasies of wafting around their own historic estate, and a rather gorgeous one at that, all fairytale-like castle buildings and pretty magnolia trees. Not that les enfants are likely to spend too much time revelling in the swanky surrounds; they’ll most likely be too distracted by all the family-friendly fun activities on site. The waterpark, for example, with its four pools and its waterslides (the longest of which is a mammoth 45 metres long). Or maybe the games of tennis, volleyball, pétanque, table tennis and miniature golf. Or the extensive list of kids’ club activities that mascots Alex and Sammy lead from dawn to dusk in high season. All of which (coupled with a healthy dose of free time for the grownups to go fishing at the lake, hit the gym or sip a cheeky glass of vino on the bar’s lovely terrace) bodes really rather well for days of familial harmony. And to make life even easier, there are plenty of useful facilities on site too, among them a restaurant, snack bar, shop, library and a wifi hotspot. Drag yourselves away from the fun times on site and you’ll find you’re also pleasingly well placed for all manner of attractions – châteaux, caves, forest horse riding and canoeing on the Dordogne are top picks within a 15-minute drive or so.

Liked This site is absolutely stunning, the grounds the facilities and the staff are all faultless. We have camped at many sites, most of them very good, but this site is by far exceptional. Can't wait to return.

Disliked There was nothing to dislike.

Liked Great facilities, swimming pool was amazing with slides, plus a number of play parks around the site for the little boy to keep occupied.
The shop was well stocked with essentials, and good options in the restaurant, all run by really friendly local staff.

Disliked Only downside was our pitch was so sheltered there was no grass, this with the amount of rain made the pitch quite damp. If would benefit the site to lay some gravel on some of the shady pitches.

Vriendelijk personeel, alles is duidelijk zichtbaar.

Liked Location plenty to do in the surrounding area. Campsite clean and tidy easy access to toilet and shower block. Laundrette on site and found out could have rented a fridge. Staff really helpful especially when we needed to move our dates due to an accident at home.

Disliked Tent pitch quite small no where to sit in the sunshine, tree cover left the tent and car quite dirty.

Liked This is an amazing site with great facilities. An onsite restaurant was also much appreciated for evenings when you don’t want to cook! A very clean shower/toilet block and plenty of activities on site for children.

Local attractions

The Dordogne river is just a five-minute drive away, and a super place for canoeing and kayaking. The site organises an excursion a couple of times a week in summer, or you can head to Siorac-en-Périgord to paddle under your own steam. Also nearby are a horse riding centre, lots of lovely hiking trails and a quad bike trail in the forest. Aerial views can also be had on hang gliding or hot air ballon outings nearby, or there are some nice little beaches along the river for those who fancy a quieter time. Compare your own digs to other swish houses nearby by visiting Château Castelnaud or Château Milandes, both around a 20-minute drive away. Or, for a somewhat different living experience, head underground at the troglodyte village in Belvès, five minutes away.
