- Safari tents at a family-friendly site by Hoge Kempen National Park
- A 20-minute drive to Maastricht; next to Hoge Kempen walking path
- Kitchen and bathroom for each tent; pool and restaurant on site
Recognise the name Hoge Kempen? Yes, it’s the green gem of Flanders – Belgium’s first national park and a fabulous 12,000 hectares of pine forests, heathlands and natural ponds. If you’re in the market for days spent walking, cycling or horse riding, this has to be one of the country’s prime destinations.
And if you’re after a comfortable place to stay while still keeping that outdoor vibe going? Take a look at the cosy safari tents on offer at EuroParcs Hoge Kempen. As the name promises, this spot on the edge of Zutendaal is handily placed for dipping in and out of the national park – it’s actually just next to the long-distance walking trail that goes up through the park, and you can connect to the Limburg cycle path network just outside too.
In between such outings, you’ll be staying in spacious and well-equipped safari tents set up between the trees for an easy alternative to camping. Each has its own bathroom and a kitchenette along with proper beds, so you can afford to travel light when staying here.
For downtime spent on site, there’s a lovely outdoor pool just across the road (with a heated paddling pool and play area for the kids), and site staff run activities for children in the summer months too. There’s also a comfortable brasserie-style restaurant on site, where you can have drinks and dinner in the cosy interior or head out onto the terrace for eats and drinks while keeping an eye on the kids in the neighbouring playground.
