  • Simple pitches on a hay meadow one and a half miles from Fishguard
  • Porthgain, Abereiddy and Strumble Head within 15 minutes' drive
  • Easy access to A40 for days out, plus cycle paths and bus services
Pick a spot in a Pembrokeshire hay meadow at Hay Meadow for simple pitches that are well-maintained and yet all about preserving the natural land in its best form. Keen to keep the impact on their land as minimal as possible, the owners here have decided against installing any facilities – and that means no toilets and showers provided, so you’ll need to be self-sufficient on that front. Keeping things simple, though, also means plenty of peace, fresh air, dark skies at night and the chance to appreciate nature as it should be. Drinking water is also provided. If you’d like to see more of that nature and the fabulous surroundings, getting out to see it should be fairly straightforward – there are walks and cycle paths close by and there’s also easy access to the A40 main road, which will get you up to Fishguard with a drive of five minutes or so for pubs, shops and other handy things (including ferries to Ireland). Bus services stop just outside the farm, for a more eco-friendly journey to town. A restaurant is five minutes' walk away too. That road is also useful for getting you out to see more of Pembrokeshire’s highlights, such as Strumble Head, Porthgain and St Davids, as well as a lengthy list of fabulous beaches and walks on the coast path.

Liked: Quiet, nice and flat. It's just a field on a farm but great for a 1 night stop over. Sign on field so we knew where to go

Disliked: Not so much a dislike as we knew it was basic but there's no facilities at all (bins, water point, toilets etc) so make sure you're prepared
