Getting away to the Carmarthenshire countryside, perhaps in search of walks, Welsh castles and a good bit of downtime? These are all good reasons to hunker down at Skylark Farm – as is knowing that some of the proceeds go towards supporting the owners with vet, food and housing costs for their rescue animals. That’s right – this site has rescue animals including goats, sheep, pigs, donkeys, alpacas and ponies. The farm is also a wildlife haven; the dog-friendly pitches are surrounded by fields with no lights, so stargazing can be stunning on a clear night. There’s also a small hardstanding car park. Soon after settling in, you might start thinking about food. Handily, there’s a pub-restaurant just five minutes’ walk away from the site (and lots of walks in the area should you want to go on an after-meal stroll). Shops and supermarkets can be tracked down within a five-minute drive of the site. Carmel National Nature Reserve is half an hour’s walk away from the site. It has a gorgeous ancient woodland with spring bluebells, picnic areas and walking trails. Further afield, there are castles and country parks including Castell Dinefwr 15 minutes’ drive away and Llyn Llech Owain Country Park five minutes’ drive away.
