  • Family-run Moray farm site in a Speyside woodland setting
  • Beaches, forest walks, golf course and Malt Whisky Trail all nearby
  • Woodland trails and kitchen on site; firepits for hire
Have a quiet relaxing time or a more adventurous holiday…The Loft in Moray is suitable for all tastes. Active sorts have plenty to keep them busy nearby, including whitewater rafting, sailing and surfing over at the coast, exploring the countryside by bike or taking a tour of the region's numerous whisky distilleries. For more chilled times, hire a firepit for lazy hours in the evening, or spend days out exploring walking trails that run around The Loft's grounds and the surrounding countryside. Amenities at this secluded wilderness site are in a converted Nissen shed, which houses a kitchen, showers, toilets (including accessible facilities) and a baby changing area. Hot water and cold drinking water is available here too, and there are more facilities up at the main reception building if required. Local shops, pubs and amenities are five miles away in Forres, and Elgin is within 15 minutes' drive. Beaches, forest trails and a golf course are all within a few minutes' drive as well, as is the Malt Whisky Trail for those in search of top tipples.

What customers say

Great campsite, lovely tranquil spot with tidy facilities. Generous, private pitches. Friendly staff, fun games barn, handy for sights and beaches. A few bits need a spruce-up, and showers/toilets can be a bit hit-and-miss, but most love it and come back.

Camping pod (family)

Liked Great site on a working farm. Clean and well presented. Excellent communal facilities.

Disliked The sticky feel of the wipe clean mattress (although I fully understand the reasons)

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your kind words — we’re so pleased you enjoyed the site, facilities and the farm setting!
The wipe-clean mattresses are thoroughly cleaned and dried between each stay, but when the air humidity is higher they can sometimes feel a little tackier to the touch. We’re sorry if that was the case during your visit. We’d love to welcome you back again soon!

Clean facilities, good location.

All-season unpowered grass tent or motorhome site

Liked Location

Disliked Having to pay to use a fire pit that was not as safe as our own.
Extras did add up a bit, so watch that on booking.
Showers not great.

From the manager: Thank you for sharing your feedback.
We’re sorry to hear a few things weren’t quite to your liking during your stay. Most guests tell us they enjoy the facilities and showers, so we’re sorry they didn’t quite meet your expectations this time. Extras are all listed at the time of booking, but we appreciate your thoughts on this. We’re really glad you enjoyed the location, and we hope you enjoyed visiting our corner of beautiful Moray!

Lovely site if your looking for a base or just to relax.

All-season powered grass site

Liked Toilet blocks were clean and tidy and there was a smll kitchen as well. There was also a lounge area / games room .

Disliked As this was a working farm dog walking was quite limeted for dogs that need a lot of excercise but Roseisle woodland /beach walk was only a short drive away

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review :)
We’re glad you enjoyed our facilities on site. While off-lead walking isn’t possible here as we’re a working farm with livestock, we do provide guests bringing canine companions with a dog pack with local walks and places to visit, and a map of our on-lead farm walk. And of course, Roseisle wood and beach are just a short drive away for a good run. We hope to see you and your four-legged friend again soon!

All-season powered grass site

Liked Great location and services, lots for the kids to explore and games room to play in, great facilities and pleasant staff, I would definitely go back.

Disliked To be very picky the games room could do with new pool balls and cues, the table tennis and football table could do with new balls, but what we had was fine, great for the kids to hang out and socialise.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review, we’re so pleased you enjoyed the location, facilities and games room, and it’s great to hear the kids had fun exploring and playing. We appreciate your feedback on the equipment; unfortunately, some of the balls and other bits in the games room have been damaged on a number of occasions this summer, and we’re sorry if this impacted your visit. We do our best to replace them where we can so everyone can enjoy the space. We’d love to welcome you back again soon!

The 3rd time we've stayed here and we will be back again for sure.

Powered grass tent, campervan or trailer tent site

Liked 2nd time this year we have stayed. Stunning location and so close to beaches, walks and other visitor attractions. The site itself has really clean facilities, plenty of showers and toilets. The site has always been quiet but also plenty kids having a great time running and playing around the site. Quiet after 10pm and there was never any noise or loud music. Simple checkin process when you arrive after 4pm. You get your envelope with your pitch number and off you go. There is a barn with table tennis and table football for keeping kids entertained.

Disliked 3rd time we've stayed in total so it's one of our go to places. Nothing we dislike.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us again! It’s wonderful to hear we’ve become one of your go-to places, and we’re delighted you enjoy the location, facilities, and atmosphere on site. We love seeing guests (big and small) making happy memories here, and it’s great to know you appreciate the peaceful evenings too. We look forward to welcoming you back for visit number four!

Local attractions

Stage your own mock battles at Culloden; the battlefield and a modern visitor centre are half an hour’s drive away. History buffs will also find plenty of castles and moody standing stones to clamber around. Moray’s mild climate and low average rainfall mean there’s a good chance of making the most of the fabulous golf courses, sailing, sandy beaches, forest trails and awesome mountains – you can even take to the slopes during the ski season. Amber nectar aficionados will also be interested in making the rounds of the renowned whisky distilleries nearby: everyone’s heard of Glenmorangie, Glenlivet and Glenfiddich, all easily doable from the site, but with half of Scotland’s malt whisky distilleries located in the Speyside area of Moray, there’s no shortage of options, including two beauties close by in Forres. If you don't know where to start, or want to get a comprehensive overview, hit the Malt Whisky Trail for a planned route around producers large and small.
