  • Family beachfront park with a huge range of facilities for all ages
  • Kids' and teens' clubs, bowling and adventure playground with zipwire
  • Pool, crazy golf, amusements, bar lounge, shop and restaurant
Cor, you'll wish your Grannie’s home was as cool as this: slap bang on the beachfront, with an indoor pool, Jacuzzi and sauna, tennis courts and Costa coffee on tap… Grannie’s Heilan’ Hame Holiday Park sits beside the powdery white sands of Embo beach near the historic town of Dornoch, in prime position for a romp around the Scottish Highlands. If you’re bringing the family, rest assured that the chances of the little ones getting bored are slim to none. Aside from the pool- and beach-based shenanigans, there’s mini ten-pin bowling, crazy golf, an amusement arcade, kids’ clubs featuring the Starland Krew, plus a great adventure playground with a zipwire, swings and slides. Older children and teens can get stuck into making their own animated movies or hit the decks at a DJ workshop in the Freestyle club. Grownups, meanwhile, will likely appreciate the smashing views across the Dornoch Firth – bottlenose dolphins and seals are regularly seen frolicking in the foam – plus the extensive facilities, which include a bar lounge and restaurant, evening entertainment, shop, launderette and more. Grannie would definitely approve…

What customers say

Great spot with beach access & scenery. Friendly staff, lots to do for families. While facilities are generally good, toilets/showers could be cleaner/updated. Food & drink a bit pricey.

Liked Staff were polite and friendly. Swing park good for kids

Disliked 2 young children with me and couldnt get access to the child changing/bathroom. First day told would open it second day informed they actually didnt have a key anymore. This meant i couldnt bathe my child with additional needs. Toilets were constantly without toilet paper, hand dryer didnt work, no soap, poo smeared on alot of the toilets, showers were disgusting also. I expect sandy toilets with the beach there but this was filth. Bingo not child friendly with adults swearing to be quiet. Whole park just felt sub bar to others we have visit.

Liked Staff all very friendly, great to have washing facilities. Bar great choice of drinks. Didn't eat the food but looked good and heard others commenting on it being good.
Level pitches for our campervan.

Disliked The showers work on push button and turns itself off. It doesn't even stay on long enough to wash your face! So that should be extended as hair washing is a pain. And no chair or shelf to help put your belongings or dry your feet or even get dressed. And the swimming pool, didn't see anything when looking through the brochure of closing times. Wanted a swim after crazy golf went at 16.00 the pool was already closed.

Liked The area up north of Scotland is beautiful

Disliked Very long wait at reception on arrival while 1 staff member served another 3 stood chatting.

Touring pitches are very uneven.
Toilets were filthy and alot of black mould in shower block.

Club house only exepts card payment no cash ?????

£45 to bring your dog to your own caravan for a week

Unable to book any kids activities even when trying 1 week in advance to my arrival.

Parkdean now operate a automated phone service which is absolutely ridiculous.

When calling the parks direct number (given by reception team) again no answer tried various times and still no answer.

Liked The main building was very good - shop, bar, arcades, restaurant
Beach

Disliked The camping site was not great. A lot of waterlogged pitches and puddles and the toilet/shower facilities were stinky.
We got hit by Storm Floris on our 3rd day, there was a power cut and they couldn't get the power back on for days so had to shut the site!!! We were forced to wild camp for the next couple of days. The staff were good though and provided free sandwiches and tea/coffee and did their best under the circumstances to keep the kids entertained in the main building.

Liked Location is good. Next to Dornoch beautiful town that’s worth a visit

Disliked Disgusting toilet/shower block facilities we may as well have just wild camped. Dirty and filthy smelling. Not surprised now why they aren’t shown in the pictures. Very disappointed as this was the most expensive pitch up of our full NC509 trip. No quiet time respected.

Local attractions

Dornoch, the pretty little town nearest to Grannie’s Heilan’ Hame Holiday Park, has a range of small independent shops, a cathedral dating back to 1224 and one of the best championship golf courses in the world. Otherwise, if you fancy a day trip, there’s a decent variety of things to do nearby. For a fairytale castle with a French flavour, take a tour of Dunrobin Castle, which stages falconry displays twice daily in its beautiful grounds; Black Isle Wildlife Park has child-pleasing meerkats, lemurs and zebras; whisky lovers can wet their whistle at the Glenmorangie Distillery; and the spectacular waterfalls at Falls of Shin are one of the best places in Scotland to see salmon feats of derring-do as the fish leap upstream between May and September, or to go geocaching, walking and cycling along the forest trails. If you don’t mind travelling a bit further, it’s an easy drive to classic destinations such as John O’Groats, Loch Ness and Ullapool.
