  • Among spectacular scenery a short stroll from the beach at Crail
  • A 20-minute drive from St Andrews and 45 from Fife
  • Heated outdoor pool and indoor play area
Golfers, boaters, beach fans, families, couples and heritage hunters: you'll surely approve of Sauchope Links Park in Scotland's Fife. On the eastern tip of Fife, this is a place positioned to soak up sun, with spectacular Scottish views, and within walking distance of the historic town of Crail. It's a short drive from famed St Andrews and has outdoor pursuits aplenty to pursue in the surrounding area. And those beaches? The local sands at Crail are only a few minutes' walk away. Amenities are kept spotless to ensure guests have as comfy and relaxed a time as poss; you'll find pursuits on site too, such as a heated outdoor pool and an indoor play area for the kids with pool and a football table. You won't have to leave the park if you need emergency bits and bobs, as the site shop stocks basic essentials. But if you do want to stockpile stuff to be sure, local supermarkets are 10 minutes' walk away at Crail along a most scenic coastal path.

What customers say

Great coastal spot with sea views & beach access. Staff are a highlight, as are the spotless facilities. Huts/domes are usually cosy & kitted out, some with hot tubs. Close to Crail for walks. Be aware of extra charges for Wi-Fi/cooking, and a few minor comfort/maintenance gripes.

Seahaar Beach 1 bedroom cabin (hot tub, deluxe)

Liked Everything is great, clean, fully functional for an amazing break away. Hot tub fantastic. No complaints at all!
Highly recommended, only slight grumble is WiFi could have been included in the price, as phone signal very poor so would have been handy to have the WiFi for calls etc. But you can pre book this so my fault for not doing so.

Geodesic dome (no pets)

Liked The nice Welsh manager was very friendly and efficient. The toilets were clean. The showers were warm.

Disliked Everything else. The accommodation had nothing included, not even the bare minimum. There's a wood burner but no kindling, firelighters, or even matches. Of course these are available - for a price - from the shop at reception, as they know you will need these to use the wood burner, fire pit or hot tub you already paid for. There is no lighting (there are some cheap battery powered fairy lights but the batteries were dead). There was a slot for a torch by the door but this was missing. The bed was two single beds pushed together, and they would separate in the night so one person would end up falling into the crack in the middle. The light outside shone straight through the canvas of the dome (as there wasn't a shield to direct the light just on to the path), so we couldn't sleep without eye masks. There was no privacy from the dome next door as their only way out was to walk on loud gravel right by our seating area. The camping kitchen is a joke - nothing is provided, not even a pan or a bottle opener. Even the cookers, you have to pay extra for. I'm sure the fire extinguishers would cost extra if they were allowed to get away with it legally.

I couldn't use the WiFi either - the signal is password protected, but the instructions just say to 'follow the prompts online'. Obviously this is outdated and the WiFi has changed since this was written. Unfortunately as checkin is 4pm earliest and the reception closes an hour later, we didn't discover this problem until reception was closed. Instead, I ate through my phone's data plan playing podcasts through headphones trying to drown out the sounds of our neighbours' dome snoring.

I know we were glamping so I wouldn't expect a hotel room level of facilities. However, if you are paying close to £100 a night, I'd expect at least a comfortable bed, or a warm shelter, or some sort of electricity, or at the very least a private place to stay. Any one of the above could justify the price. Otherwise, there's basically no difference to just camping in a field for free.

Liked Well equipped site with very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. The facilities were really clean and there were plenty of toilets and showers, relative to the number of guests. Very close to the beach (1 minute walk) and we saw dolphins when we were there!

Disliked We couldn't see the sea from our pitch because of the static caravans, but that's a minor thing because the beach is SO close.

Liked The views were lovely of the sea.

Disliked The showers did not work on the second morning and I felt the pitches were too clots together. The toilet block was tired and dated and was in need of modernisation. The price was very expensive also.
