  • Friendly pop-up site in a field behind a Somerset pub
  • Frome 10 minutes' drive; half an hour from Bath city centre
  • Breakfasts available at the pub
Buckland Field Camping is a small and friendly pop-up site based in a paddock to the rear of a Somerset village pub. Set just behind The Bell Inn in Buckland Dinham, this spot is simple but comfortable, with good amenities including well-maintained toilets, warm showers and a washing-up area. This is a spot where it's very easy to leave the car behind. There are plenty of bike trails and footpaths in the local Somerset countryside, some of which start pretty much directly at the site gates, or you can catch the D2 bus from just outside the pub to destinations like Bath and Frome. Other Somerset spots like Cheddar and the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are within easy driving distance too. Other perks of staying here include the on-site pub, where you can get a hot breakfast. If you'd rather self-cater, portable gas stoves are permitted if guests exercise caution. Well-behaved dogs are welcome throughout the camping season at Buckland Field Camping.

What customers say

Fair dinkum, this place is a no-frills, solid campsite. Think peaceful country vibes, next to a ripper pub. Campers raved about the roomy, flat sites, tidy amenities (good shower!), and value. Great for a quick getaway, though some found the loos a bit tight when it's pumping. Shower's a set price/temp, and bigger rigs might find the drive in a bit tricky.

Unpowered grass tent site

Liked This is a lovely little site. Facilities are basic, but the attraction is that it sits behind the Bell Inn where you can get good pub grub and company.

Everything was well maintained and very clean. The staff (it’s a family owned pub) were all extremely friendly and helpful.

Of note, this is just a short distance from the Collier’s Way bike path that runs between Bath and Frome. That’s how I got there and it made for a lovely journey.

Disliked The cow that decided 4am was a good time to start an extended moo-ing session! But then this is the countryside.

Decent site for a stop over which doesn’t break the bank.

Disliked Couldn’t see any kind of sign post of poster to say where the toilet facilities were, we had to ask another camper on the site to show us.
