  • Rural site among spectacular scenery on a private farm estate
  • A few miles from Wareham and under 30 minutes to Swanage and Studland
  • Peaceful and family-friendly wildlife haven
Deer in a wildlife haven, ancient oaks in a wide green field, and manor house views on a secluded Dorset site… be tremendously sensible and book Trigon Farm as soon as poss. Set in a rural field near Wareham with views of Trigon Manor house and arable fields to the left and beyond, this is a fab site for families: hidden away from main roads and traffic, with stacks of space for running around and big scope for mini nature hunters to roam around and spot deer, buzzards and woodpeckers. There are cows to spy too, as Trigon is on a beef cattle farm with the farming part of the site across the estate; the curious can watch the Trigon cows laze about in the adjoining fields and see the workings of everyday farming all around. Off site, it's a few miles to Wareham from here (Monkey World is a must), and less than half an hour's drive to spectacular Dorset beaches at Studland and Swanage. And by evening? As befits a site such as this, firepits and barbecues are allowed – so sort your supplies and sit back to snuggle up under the stars. Your closest pitstops for stocking up are the convenience shop and mini market at the Carey Road entrance to Trigon two miles down the lane; much more can be sorted in Wareham's shops and supermarkets or at its Saturday market. Amenities include four huts with flushing toilets, four shower huts with free hot water, a washing-up area, drinking water taps, and rubbish and recycling bins. The farm has a phone signal as well as 3G and 4G.

Peaceful, spacious, clean site with super friendly hosts. Guests love the spotless loos, showers, tranquil vibe & beautiful surrounds. Limited numbers mean plenty of room. Great base for exploring – many keen to return. Could do with phone charging & ice pack freezing.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Beautiful site and surroundings. Facilities were all very clean. Staff were friendly.
Grateful that the site were thoughtful to provide a bucket of water next to each pitch in the event of a fire. So sensible, yet this doesn't happen as often as it should!

Disliked Nothing!

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked We arrived at Trigon on Saturday and they have a pitch up anywhere policy which meant you could pick the right spot, it was quiet and tranquil showers and toilets where kept spotless, we were met by Rob who is always around, helpful and friendly. Showers were cold for me but I think it was user error as my wife's was hot. Not overcrowded never had to wait for the toilets or showers. Shame we couldn't have a fire pit but its very dry in the area and an area ban nothing to do with the site to avoid fires. Follow the directions in the email past the spar shop its less travel on the gravel road. There is limited signal but that was a positive for me as it got my kids off their phones.

Liked Good showers. We hadn't camped for many years and did have some condensation overnight but overall enjoyed our stay.
Operator called round each day to check everything.

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Fantastic spacious pitches. Staff were very welcoming and helpful with explaining rules and location of amenities. Bathrooms and wash areas were brilliant, kept clean throughout our stay. Very peaceful campsite, perfect for relaxing and taking in the View.

Disliked The road is gravel and can take some time to travel down, be careful of the bump about 10 meters short of where it changes from tarmac to gravel!

Unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site

Liked Large pitches. Limited number of tents allowed.

Disliked Not enough toilets (had to queue in the mornings) and after the morning rush they were dirty. Showers went hot and cold. Dogs owned by people camping - barking a lot, and often not on leads. Campsite owners ought to enforce and check that dogs are always on leads (not everyone appreciates your dog sniffing around or cocking its leg on your tent) - campsite owners seemed more intent on making friends with everyone than ensuring site rules were followed (another example - at least 2 groups had wood fires even though these were forbidden, which were in use when Rob was doing his rounds but nothing was done). Also could hear constant busy road noise (and trains) from a main road.

Local attractions

As well as its shops – and pubs – Wareham, three miles away, has a pretty quay for picnic spots, a cinema and a public swimming pool, and is the starting point for boat trips to spectacular Poole Harbour. Wareham golf club is less than 10 minutes' drive from the farm. Hikers should head to the nearby Purbeck Hills or the Dorset Downs (part of the southern England Chalk Group that also includes Salisbury Plain and the South Downs). Top spots for adventuring and exploring days include the famed Old Harry Rocks, Lulworth Cove and Lulworth Castle – and if your junior adventurers are of the Enid Blyton variety, they'll like a look at Corfe Castle too, said to be the inspiration for Kirrin Castle in the Famous Five books. More walking, as well as cycling, can be sorted at the Sika Trail, two miles away.
