What customers say

Friendly staff, great pitches, spotless facilities with hot showers. Lovely peaceful spot with a beautiful lake. Minor gripes: a bit dated in places, some road noise. Still, brilliant value and folks keen to come back.

Liked Owner extremely welcoming, plenty of space to choose where to pitch up. Relaxed atmosphere, small lake to fish on and clean toilet and shower block. Lovely site!

Powered grass caravan site

Liked Warm welcome by the owner. Clean shower and toillet facilities. Big field, grass but solid ground.

Disliked Poor dish washing facility; bin in that small, low shed completely filled up, obviously not emptied for days, full of maggots.

Price too high for what was offered.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent site (six person)

Liked Location - in east reach of lots of interesting sites (NT Stourhead, Shaftesbury, Salisbury etc) for exploring Dorsey & Somerset.
Clean showers & loos - good water pressure & temperature
Spacious site with nice pond to walk to
Hosts friendly & accommodating - good communication, welcomed & led to pitch on arrival.
Shop & petrol station at site entrance was useful.
Dark sky area!

Disliked Road noise - probably fine if in a camper or caravan but constant background noise when staying in a tent
Pot-wash area - very low ceiling, not v clean and practical to use.

Unpowered grass tent site (four person)

Liked Fantastic site. The owner was brilliant from the moment we met him and very helpful. The site was ‘fully booked’ however there was so much space around us-they are not greedy and overbook which we loved. The facilities were really clean. Beautiful location for seeing stars as there’s no light pollution. Would highly recommend this site!

Liked Big spacious pitches, which were actually level! Couple of picnic benches which were great for mealtimes and the little lake is a lovely little addition. Very friendly welcome and only 30 mins from Longleat which was perfect for us

Powered grass caravan site

Liked Great pitch size, would be good if you were motorhoming with others who had a tent as you could be in the same field. Peaceful location, it was very quiet with few guests when we visited. Very helpful staff who greeted me on arrival and explained everything clearly which made life easy. Clean facilities, very tidy well managed site. Good location if you just want to chill at the site or are happy to drive to places to visit, we went into Shaftesbury and also took a 40 min trip to the south coast.

Disliked Limited facilities, 2 toilets and 2 showers in the block near our field which was fine as there were not that many guests, but might be an issue if the field was busy.

From the manager: Hi Nicola

We look forward to seeing you again

Local attractions

Take a detour into the animal world for a little while… there are several animal-orientated activities within reach of the site, including the family-friendly Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park (45 minutes’ drive) for hands-on farm activities and the Bush Farm Bison Centre (15 minutes), home to bison and elk and woodland walks. On a bigger scale, Longleat (half an hour) has a drive-through safari packed with wild animals. However, it has more than just animals – there’s also an adventure park and over at Longleat House (35 minutes), you can ogle over an Elizabethan house through tours, exhibitions and walks around the formal and pleasure gardens. There are more trips into history at hand too, whether it’s inside Old Wardour Castle (20 minutes), Stourhead’s mansion and landscaped gardens (20 minutes) or Stonehenge (45 minutes). If you want energy-packed afternoons instead, the New Forest National Park (50 minutes) and its hiking and cycling trails may be worth the little longer drive. There are opportunities for watersports in Bournemouth (an hour) or a scenic coastal walk at Durdle Door (an hour) on the Jurassic Coast.
